THE WhatsApp has started testing a new login method for its web version, which will allow users to connect to their app account without having to scan a QR code. With this alternative, users will be able to connect via a link with their phone number.
This news appeared in WhatsApp beta for Android, in version 2.23.14.18, and can already be tested by some users. With the method, it is possible to link the account through the browser, using the phone number and a code associated with it.
The tool can make it easier to use WhatsApp on a secondary device, because if for some reason the phone's camera does not open to read the code, the application can be opened using the code, without any major difficulties, making the user's life easier.
It is important to always be vigilant and not share the code number with anyone, preventing other people from having access to your conversations and personal data.
Login using code sent by number cell phone is only compatible with WhatsApp Web. To use the same account on a secondary smartphone, the operation still follows the traditional format, using reading via the code.
The update is not yet available to all users, but it is expected to arrive soon.
How to test
To test the version, simply have WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.23.14.18 on your phone and confirm if the feature is available by logging in to the website. When you open the page, just click on “Connect with phone number”, enter the number with the area code, press “Next” and wait for the code to be generated.
Then, just open the WhatsApp app on your phone, go to the options menu, tap “Connected devices”, then “Connect device” and “Connect with phone number”. To finish, you need to enter the code shown on the computer screen and that’s it!
Other features being tested in the app
Recently, WhatsApp has also started testing other features that promise to further improve the experience for those who use the app. Among the most recent functions launched by the platform are the option to send high-quality videos and photos, testing new filters for conversations and the option of groups within communities, which are only available in the beta version of the app, with no date yet set for when they will be available to all users.
