A new update released on Monday brings a chronological option to WhatsApp Web for searching messages. This new feature will be available to some users in the test channel. According to WABetaInfo, when users search for messages, they can access a calendar button that allows them to filter all conversations from a given day.

This feature works very easily and has been tested on iOS for some time now. While it may seem simple, this new functionality is in response to feedback from beta viewers who have requested this feature in the past. Check out more details below.

Search by date

The introduction of a date-based search feature will allow users to quickly see what messages were shared on a given day, improving their ability to find relevant information. Additionally, this feature saves users time by eliminating the need to scroll through a vast history. There are currently no plans to roll out a new search for stable users.

However, on another front, WhatsApp also tested features that increase privacy during calls, as well as a new user interface for the app on Android.

More privacy in calls

In a new beta update released last Saturday (14), WhatsApp released a new layer of security for calls made within the application. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature is included in the beta version for Android and iOS and will appear in the “Advanced” option in the privacy settings.

If you enable this feature, WhatsApp should protect your IP during voice or video calls and prevent anyone from accessing your location. An important detail of the new feature is that the process of encrypting and routing the connection through WhatsApp servers can impact the quality of the call.

Still, this feature prevents personal information from being tracked, which can be very important for people who frequently communicate with unknown contacts. Currently, the improvements are being rolled out slowly and experimentally in batches, so it may take some time before all beta participants have access to this feature.
