Screen repairs will be more affordable for iPhone owners. Here's why.

With the arrival of the new iPhone 15, Apple has officially reduced the cost of repairing the rear glass of smartphones, a problem for users who were looking for repairs and were faced with exorbitant prices for their devices.

According to The Verge, the major tech company has given price estimates for its new phones, suggesting a reduction of up to US$1,400. Read more below to better understand the price reduction.

Lowest price on glass

When the iPhone 14 launched last year, Apple was charging $1,499 to $1,549 to replace the back glass on the Pro and Pro Max models. Currently, according to the chart, the iPhone 15 will charge a repair fee of $169 to $199 for the Pro and Pro Max.

Of course, repairs will be cheaper if you have an Apple insurance plan. This reduction is due to a major design change Apple made: in its latest phone models, the back glass can be removed and replaced independently of the rest of the phone.

Previous iPhone models had more complex integration on the back of the device, making repairs much more complicated. For example, specialized websites have identified this type of repair of older devices as “one of the most expensive and difficult there is”. It is important to note that the company first made this design change in iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Earlier this year, it announced a similar rear design for the 15 Pro models.

And in Brazil?

According to Apple's official website, the price to repair damage to the rear glass of the iPhone 15 in Brazil will be R$1,339, following budget estimates. In the case of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the price could reach R$1,579.

While no information has been given about the price of the rear repair for other countries, as the price of the iPhone 12 here could still exceed R$1,000, the price listed above mentioned the cheapest estimate recently listed by Apple.

What's new in iPhone 15

The iPhone 15 brings to the market many important innovations built into this model. But one feature in particular stands out: for the first time, an Apple smartphone has a USB-C port. Even with this more radical change, not all iPhones respond in the same way to the new connector.

With the iPhone 15, Apple has finally added a USB-C port to its phones, increasing the possibility of using cables. With your new phone, you can charge your battery or that of another device, send audio and even video.

However, even if the iPhone 15 has the new USB-C, it still uses USB 2.0, the data transfer speed is equivalent to Lightning. In the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple supports the USB 3.0 protocol, with the ability to transfer files over the cable 20 times faster. The presence of USB-C in the iPhone 15 allows Apple's smartphone to have many different and new uses. For example, users can use the same cable to charge AirPods, iPads and even MacBooks.
