Look at this INNOVATION of the Pixel 8: it doesn't have something ESSENTIAL for a cell phone

Google's new phone could be inspired by the iPhone 14 Pro. Find out what it will look like and see details about the launch.

When we go to buy a new cell phone, we look at all the specifications and features to see if that device fits perfectly with what we are looking for, right? It is essential to see if it offers high performance, a powerful battery, cameras with good lenses, if it has a large storage space, if it has dual SIM, among other things.

However, following an Apple trend, Google's new phone, the Pixel 8, may be different from some current phones on the market. The new device is expected to be launched in the second half of this year, along with its Pro version.

Pixel 8

Just like the iPhone 14 Pro from the United States, Google's new cell phone, the Pixel 8, should abandon physical chips forever and work only with eSim, the virtual chip. With that, the new model will not have a chip tray.

The information has not yet been confirmed by the brand, but rumors spread after the recent leak of images of the cell phone, where it is not possible to find the space for the chip tray.

Announcement

The leaked images show the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro made from a computer, not in someone's hands, with the finished product. Therefore, it is not possible to confirm whether the device will actually only have eSIM, since the image is not of the final version of the devices.

The iPhone 14 Pro sold in the US is the only device that has completely abandoned the physical chip, allowing only the virtual chip to be used. The same applies if the device is imported to Brazil. In these cases, the user must contact their carrier to request it. In the country, the main carriers already work with this chip format.

Features

Some of the Pixel 8's specs have already been leaked online, but one of the most interesting features is the model's camera. The camera interface should feature two buttons to toggle between between photo and video. The camera modes, which were previously in the same menu, will now be separated, making selection more intuitive.

The device's screen should have OLED technology, measuring 6.71 inches, with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It should hit the market with the Android 14, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 and 256 GB of internal storage. The main camera should have 50 MP, while the secondary, ultrawide, should have 12 MP. The front camera should come with 11 MP. The device's processor should be the Google Tensor G3 SoC.

The device's battery should have 4,485 mAh, with support for 24 W charging. In the Pixel 8 Pro model, the battery should have 4,950 mAh.

Launch

It's possible that the launch will happen in October, since Google didn't present the phone at its last event. Due to the improvements compared to the previous model, the Pixel 8 should arrive on the market more expensive. While the Pixel 7 arrived in the United States costing US$$599, the Pixel 8 should cost between US$$649 and US$$699.

Like the phones in this line, the Pixel 8 will probably not be launched in Brazil. However, following this virtual chip trend, it is possible that devices from other brands with this feature will soon arrive.
