Finally, an email organization app arrives on Android. And it looks just like the old Inbox.
If you're an Android user, you might be interested in a new app to manage your emails. There's good news for those who use this system on their cell phones. Shortwave, which was previously only available on iOS, can now be installed on devices with Google's mobile system.
Developed by ex-Googlers, Shortwave was created to fill the gap left by Inbox, the mobile email client, by providing innovative recommendations to help users organize messages and stay on top of what’s important in their inbox. Read on to learn more.

Organization app
The Android app spent 18 months in testing before launching version 1.0 of the service. It’s free to use, but some extra features are available for those who choose to pay for a premium subscription. Some of the app’s main features in the free version include sorting emails by message type, scheduling emails, blocking unwanted senders, and automatic sorting using artificial intelligence.
One of the goals with the launch of Inbox was to help users achieve inbox zero. A common complaint from individuals is that among their important emails, there are several advertisements or spam. However, Google abandoned the app in 2019 and several developers started working on Shortwave and followed the same line of thinking.
Gmail for Android has finally included some of the features of Inbox, but many people still miss the old app. Users who opt for the free version lose access to some features, such as limiting searches to messages received up to 90 days ago. A subscription costs US$$9 (about R$$44.00) per month. Shortwave is now available for download on the Google Play Store, the official Android app store.
End of Inbox
One of Google's email apps that has been shut down for years is Inbox. The app, which was launched in 2014, has been around for almost 10 years for Android and iOS, but stopped working in March 2019. At launch, Inbox had several features that differed from Google's standard email app, Gmail.
You could schedule message reminders for different times, manage emails with gestures, and more. In April of the same year (2019), Google announced a new version of Gmail that included almost all of Inbox's features.
The complete shutdown of the app was expected, given that Inbox was no longer receiving regular updates. So it came as no surprise when the company announced the discontinuation of the old app. One inbox feature that Gmail still lacks is functional message grouping. Social media notifications will appear alongside ads, financial messages, and more. Google has promised to update Gmail with these features, but it still isn’t enough for users as it stands. Many still miss Inbox. Now, with Shortwave, individuals can experience the old app again. In addition to being a highly useful and organized tool, the app will also bring back a sense of nostalgia for old customers.
