The Galaxy S23 Ultra is Samsung's current flagship and was launched this year to compete with strong competitors in the premium smartphone category. The South Korean company's latest device offers some interesting features, but some of them are not explored by users.
The “secret” features range from using the camera to customizing the lock screen, optimizing routines and making users’ lives easier with the use of software. For those who don’t know, one of the main features of the Galaxy S23 Ultra is its quad camera with a lens of up to 200MP and the exclusive Galaxy Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, developed in collaboration with Qualcomm. Keep reading and check out the 5 premium features of the smartphone.
Use cameras at the same time
The Galaxy S23 Ultra allows you to record videos with more than one lens at the same time. The “Director’s View” element offers this option. This feature is available in One UI version 3.1 and allows you to record videos using the camera main and front camera, or even secondary lenses such as telephoto and macro.
This feature allows you to capture scenes from multiple angles and even record reactions behind the camera. The format also gives you the option to place the image from the front camera in Picture-in-Picture (PIP) or directly in half of the screen. To access this feature, go to the Camera app and find “Director’s View” among the advanced settings.
Samsung Dex
Samsung DeX existed before the launch of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but updates have improved its functionality. Regardless of any modifications, the intent remains the same. It's about turning your phone into a desktop computer by connecting it to a larger screen. This way, you can easily view your files by sending images from your smartphone to a monitor or TV, or you can have a second screen.
The connection between the devices can be made via an HDMI cable as long as it has a USB-C end, or via a device designed for this function, such as a DeX Station or DeX Pad. It is not necessary, but you may need to connect a keyboard and mouse to the phone if you want to use it this way.
Shooting with SPen
Few people know, but you can take photos with the S Pen. This stylus allows you to take photos up to 10 meters away from your phone, so you don't have to race ahead of the timer. The accessory uses a Bluetooth connection to give commands to the phone, including taps.
To use this feature, you'll need to open the camera app, grab the S Pen, move your phone away, and tap once on the side of the peripheral when you're ready.
Videos on lock screen
This feature is available in One UI 5.1 and offers users different options for static background images. You can choose any animation from a video taken by the manufacturer or from your camera. However, the condition is that the clip does not exceed 15 seconds in length. You can also select more than one video for the wallpaper if you want. In this case, the maximum limit is 10.
Extract text from image
Not only can you remotely take photos and set videos as wallpapers, but the Samsung S23 Ultra can also extract text from images. Related features can help you, for example, copy text from a photo onto a book page.
The tool can be accessed from the gallery itself by tapping on the image and pressing the yellow button with the letter “T” in the bottom right corner of the screen. When you copy a passage, it goes to the clipboard and you can add it to your notes or send it as a message.
