Xiaomi's new foldable smartphone is on the way, and according to the Chinese manufacturer's CEO, the upcoming Mix Fold 3 will be the thinnest device in its category. In an official message shared this Wednesday, Xiaomi finally confirmed the long-awaited launch event for its new smartphone.
The teaser was shared on Weibo and shows that the presentation is scheduled for August 14th. The meeting is expected to start at 7pm (8am in Brazil). Xiaomi plans to broadcast this event worldwide through its official channels. Mix Fold 3
CEO Lei Jun decided to share some information that will be revealed next Monday. Jun said that the Mix Fold 3 will be 4.93mm thick when opened and 9.8mm when closed. This will be the folding device thinnest in the world, surpassing the Honor Magic V2 when folded. While its Chinese competitor is thicker when open (4.7mm), the Mix Fold 3 will be thinner when closed (the Honor Magic V2 is 9.9mm when closed).
To achieve this, Xiaomi has drastically redesigned the MIX Fold 3's hinge, which is now made of hardened steel and carbon ceramic. The new Xiaomi surpasses its predecessor, the Mix Fold 2. The old phone had 2 levels and 8 moving parts, while the current design is more complex, with 14 moving parts and 3 levels.
The Mix Fold 3 can be used even half-open at any opening angle between 45 and 135 degrees. Xiaomi also claims that the device will be quite durable, as it has been certified in durability tests to withstand up to 500,000 holes. According to the technical specifications released so far, both screens of the phone have a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device has a triple camera system with Leica Vario-Summicron lenses.
Xiaomi hasn't released details about the battery size yet, but it promises that the device will last more than a day without being plugged in. It should also support 67W fast charging or 50W wireless charging with a cable.
Other releases
Among the devices that Xiaomi will present on the 14th, we have some important news. In addition to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, another that should be launched is the Redmi K60 Ultra. The Smartphone promises to be announced with a 144Hz OLED screen, Dimensity 9200 Plus and 50MP rear camera.
In addition, there will also be the Xiaomi Pad 6 Max, a tablet that should have a 14-inch LCD screen with a frequency of 144 Hz, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, which cannot be sold outside China. Everything indicates that one of the launches will be the Redmi Pad SE, a budget tablet that will have an 11-inch LCD screen, Snapdragon 680, 8MP rear camera and 8000mAh battery.
