The foldable Motorola is one of the promises for the year. See what happened.
The new Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was put to the test by famous YouTuber Jerry Rig Everything in an unreleased video posted on his channel last Thursday (20).
The device scratched, bent backwards, had its hinges stripped, and even caught fire. In extensive durability tests, the main foldable screen couldn’t handle pressure and scratched more easily than regular phones. The 3.6-inch outer screen was cracked during a “torture session.”
Low resistance
The low scratch resistance of foldable displays is typical of most devices in their segment, including from other manufacturers. However, the influencer was surprised by how easily the small outer display cracked and broke under the force, revealing the empty space beneath it. The flexible display also fails under a light impact for 6 seconds and gets a black mark.
On the other hand, in two other aspects, the Motorola Razr 40 The Ultra performs better than expected. According to the video, testing with debris directly on the hinges did not damage the materials and the unit holds up better than previous Razr units. Additionally, the display and hinge were barely damaged when folded in the opposite direction. This is in stark contrast to the Google Pixel Fold, which failed all tests and suffered significant damage.
Motorola Razr 40 Ultra
The Razr 40 Ultra features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and a high-resolution display. The main 6.9-inch LED display has a 165Hz refresh rate, which is one of the highest on the market. The 3.6-inch external display uses the same technology and refreshes at 144Hz.
The Razr 40 Ultra's dual-camera setup consists of a 12MP main sensor and a 13MP hybrid sensor responsible for ultrawide and macro photography. The front-facing camera is 32MP. The device's specs list that it comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, as well as 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and USB-C input.
The device also features Dolby Atmos sound technology and a 3800 mAh battery. The folding device presented in the video as Razr+ (Razr Plus) is known as Razr 40 Ultra in Brazil and other countries.
