Learn more about the new WhatsApp design for iOS. See what's really changed.
While testing various features on the beta channel, WhatsApp stable has started rolling out the new design to select users on iPhone. The news was confirmed by the folks at WABetaInfo and the improvement was not even included in the changelog of version 23.21.72.
However, a significant number of users already have access to an interface that features green accents on various message elements. Another major tweak rolled out by WhatsApp includes completely redesigned icons on the settings page and the chat information screen. Read on for all the details.
New design
WhatsApp has not yet confirmed that the new interface will be widely distributed to iPhone users, but it is expected that more people will receive the changes in future versions. On the other hand, Messenger is also testing more text formatting tools and allowing the use of multiple accounts on the same smartphone. Find out more below.
Formatting tool
In a new beta update released this Friday, the WhatsApp for iOS now features three new text formatting tools. The new feature was discovered by the folks at WABetaInfo and many users can now use it to improve their experience and customize the layout of their text messages.
Code Lock: This tool is primarily designed to make sharing code on WhatsApp easier. While it is commonly used by software engineers and programmers, it is now available to all users. If you want to use this formatting tool, simply add a backtick character to format your text.
Quote block: Quote block is useful when replying to a specific part of a previous message. You can use this formatting tool by adding a “>” character in front of the text.
Lists: Lists provide a method of organizing information. You can create a list by starting your text with “*,” “-,” or a number.
For now, the new text formatting tools are still limited to a small audience in WhatsApp's beta program. However, these tools make messages look more professional, helping users convey information or technical details more accurately. On the other hand, WhatsApp is also testing a new menu for audio or video messages, as well as a new shortcut for locking chats.
Block conversations on WhatsApp
In an update released last Wednesday, the 18th, the beta version of WhatsApp for Android receives a new option that allows users protect your chats with password. The new feature is available in version 2.23.22.4 and now everything can be done directly from the Messenger home page.
With this, simply select the chat manually and select the “lock” option so that access to the chat is password protected. The second option, also to test this block, can be found on the contact information page. Both options make the process easier without having to go into privacy settings, but beta users are still unable to access the news at the same time. This improvement is currently being distributed to some people in the Android beta program, but it won’t be long before it is widely distributed.
