Many people, especially influencers, use their smartphones for work and, between us, we can agree that they are extremely useful, as we find all the necessary tools to generate lots of views and likes.

In addition, we find resources to carry out digital marketing, Instagram ads, manage facebook business, among many others.

Given all this, we believe that, at some point in your life, you must have thought that excessive use of cell phones does not bring many benefits to our health.

It is with this context in mind that we have gathered, in this article, useful information that can help control inappropriate use and excessive cell phone use.

How much time do people spend on their cell phones?

Research shows that Brazilians lead the ranking of people who use their cell phones the most during the day.

Before we experienced the pandemic scenario, the research numbers were already high, however, in this new pandemic and post-pandemic scenario, if we can say so, the numbers have risen even more.

The Brazilian people spend, on average, 5 hours and 40 minutes of their day on their cell phones.

Today, this wireless and free technological facility, found in most Brazilian homes, has caused the use of cell phones to grow rapidly.

However, if you consider yourself a person “connected” to the virtual world and spend hours and hours of your day with your head down, sliding your fingers on the touch screen, with your eyes fixed on the screen and switching between game applications, videos, films and social networks, know that this can be harmful to your health.

What are the problems caused by excessive cell phone use?

Spending hours distracting yourself on your cell phone may seem like a harmless action, but we need to be very careful, as anything that is excessive is not good for our physical, psychological and emotional health.

To better illustrate this issue, we have listed some of the most common problems here.

Pains

Pain is the most common recurrence found in people who use cell phones excessively.

The main complaints are shoulder pain, neck pain, hand pain, wrist pain and headaches.

Be aware that when we keep our head down, the weight our neck supports is much greater than when we are in a correct posture. This can even lead to herniated discs in the spine.

If you need to use it for longer, to avoid neck pain, raise your cell phone to a height that is comfortable and that your posture is correct.

Lack of concentration

The addiction to using our cell phones can be so great that we often end up losing concentration on our tasks, as our mind only makes us think about using our cell phones, playing games, watching videos so as not to miss anything new.

Be careful, as a lack of concentration can bring countless benefits to your professional life and harm your job.

Wrinkles

For those who are very concerned about their appearance, be careful with excessive cell phone use. It may seem impossible, but it has been proven that when we spend a lot of time with our head down, the skin in the neck area becomes superimposed.

This increases sagging, accelerates the appearance of wrinkles and, especially, the double chin that is located just below the chin.

Eye problems

It is to be expected that spending too much time in front of the screen will cause eye problems.

We can develop eye pain, blurred vision, headaches, inflammation, infections and, most importantly, visual fatigue.

Insomnia

You have the habit of take the cell phone to bed, thinking that it will relax you and give you a peaceful night's sleep, you are very wrong.

This practice will make you even more “connected” and it will be difficult to truly relax, both your body and mind, which will harm your sleep.

Image problems

Unfortunately, many internet users impose beauty standards that often end up hurting and damaging people's image.

Depending on your personality, your style, your body, your hair, your nails, if it is not part of the beauty standard and you care about it, excessive cell phone use can have an impact on your mental health, your self-esteem and dissatisfaction with your own body.

Between you and me, this is not healthy at all, after all, everyone has their own beauty and particularity, which makes each human being unique and wonderful.

These are just a few examples, there are many others. We know that cell phones are now one of the main resources for remote study, work and home office.

However, we suggest that you analyze them carefully and reconsider your screen time. As the wise phrase from the movie The Jungle Book says: “Use only what is necessary, the extraordinary is too much.”

If you step away from your cell phone for a while, take the opportunity to go out with friends and family, go on trips, meet new people, enjoy every moment with the people you love, after all, time passes in the blink of an eye, it flies by.
