Learn how to use Google Lens on your iPhone. It can help you with a variety of tasks!
Google Lens is a common feature for Android users, but it is often overlooked by those who have an iPhone, with iOS. The tool uses the device's camera to identify objects, places and texts and can also translate and solve equations.
Currently, Google Lens can be used in two ways: through the official Google app, which allows immediate captures, and through the Google Photos app, which uses photos backed up by the user to perform searches.
If you're an iOS user and want to try out the feature, here's how to use Google Lens on your iPhone. It's really easy!
How to use Google Lens via the Google app
- If you don't already have the Google app on your your iPhone, download it from the App Store. Once the download is complete and you've set up your account, simply start your search by tapping the Google Lens icon in the search bar;
- When you use it for the first time, the app will request access to the camera. Simply authorize access and the function will be released so you can use the feature;
- With the camera in use in the app, you now have access to the Google Lens tool. Simply capture a photo with the object, mathematical equation or text for Google to show you the search results;
How to use Google Lens via the Google Photos app
The main difference between using Google Lens in the Google app and the Google app Google Photos is that in the first one, you just need to capture a photo at the time of the search. In Google Photos, you need to take a photo first and then open it in the app to use the tool. Despite the difference, it is also easy to use the second option.
- If you don't already have Google Photos, download the app, log in with your account and authorize access to your photos;
- With your account configured and access authorized, start your search by selecting a photo from the gallery and click on the Google Lens button located in the bottom bar.
The results will then be displayed in the tab below the photo, just like in the Google app when Lens is used. Translation, text capture, and display of places and products are also available.
The results may not be perfect, as simpler objects, animals, or plants can confuse the tool and return inaccurate results. Even so, Google Lens is a great tool to start a specific search when you’re trying to identify something.
How to use
