Find out everything about Samsung's new processor, which could power the Galaxy S24 Plus. The model will be launched next year!
Samsung has unveiled the Exynos 2400 processor as its new platform for high-end smartphones with a 10-core CPU and the Xclipse 940 GPU, based on AMD's new RDNA 3 architecture. On Thursday (12), the chip's graphics component underwent benchmark tests that compared its performance with the GPU of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Tests carried out on Geekbench have revealed two mysterious phones from the brand, with the names SM-S926B and SM-S926U. Rumors indicate that these phones are the Galaxy S24 Plus in their versions equipped with Exynos and Snapdragon, respectively. Benchmarks suggest that Qualcomm's Adreno 750 GPU is up to 10% more powerful than the Xclipse 940.
Learn more about the performance of these two processors now!
Processors
The Xclipse 940 GPU scored 14,918 points in OpenCL, which suggests a performance close to the Adreno 750 GPU, which scored 15,055 points in the same test, using the same version of Geekbench. Using the Vulkan API, the graphics cores of the Snapgragon 8 Gen 3 were 10% ahead of the Exynos.
Even though benchmarks indicate a new performance peak for Samsung's GPU, developed in partnership with AMD, it is possible that Qualcomm is reserving a big technological leap for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 GPU which, according to leaks, will be around 59% faster than the Adreno 740 of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The Exynos 2400 is manufactured using Samsung's 4-nanometer LPP+ process, which has undergone improvements during its low demand period to ensure higher wafer yield and production quality. The 8 Gen 3, meanwhile, is expected to be produced using the TSMC NP4 process, the latest generation of TSMC's 4-nanometer lithography.
It is still too early to deduce the performance of each one, since they are not yet available on the market. Energy efficiency, for example, is a very important factor in evaluating the quality of each product, and this type of testing will only be possible when the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra are launched.
Launch
The flagship phones are expected to be released early next year. According to recent leaks, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to come with a flat screen, leaving behind the curved screens used by the manufacturer, and could be wider than its predecessor, indicating changes in its display aspect ratio.
According to the leaks, it will measure 162.3 x 79 x 8.6 mm. In addition to being wider than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, it will also be shorter and thinner. Although it is only a matter of a few millimeters, users who use the current generation may find the difference strange.
The camera setup should be almost identical to the previous model, with three lenses: a main, an ultrawide and a periscopic lens, which will be aligned vertically. The phone's main camera should have 200 MP, a wide-angle lens should have 12 MP and a 3X telephoto lens with a 10 MP sensor. The new feature of this model will be a periscopic lens, with 5X zoom and a 50 MP sensor.
