WhatsApp version is causing the app to crash. Find out what the problem is and learn how to solve it!

WhatsApp beta for Android has received a new update that has brought a major bug to the Status feature. The information has been confirmed by several users and by WABetaInfo. Version 2.23.19.8 prevents the user from being able to reply to the statuses of friends and family.

With the bug, when tapping to reply with text, WhatsApp displays an error and ends up crashing completely. This fact forces the user to close and restart the application, so that it returns to normal.

Announcement

The beta version of WhatsApp is used to test the messaging app, making it available for users to test new features before their official launch. With these tests, it is possible to identify possible errors and receive feedback to improve the features before they are released for the stable version of the app.

Bug

The bug in version 2.23.19.8 from WhatsApp presents an error not only when the user tries to respond to the Status with a phrase, but also when he tries to use an emoji to react. When doing so, the application presents an error and ends up crashing. An error message also appears, which forces the user to close the app and restart it.

Announcement

WhatsApp developers are already aware of the problem and have already released version 2.23.19.12 to resolve the issue. However, this update is still being distributed gradually and slowly to testers.

So if you are a beta tester and are facing this issue, it is recommended that you try updating to the new version on Play Store.

Changes

WhatsApp has also been testing changes to its interface, changing its look. The app's new design will be based on Material Design 3 and is already present in version 2.23.13.16 for Android. The new material is the latest version of the design system. from Google, applied to Android, web and more platforms. It is characterized by a simpler design language and 2D.

In light mode, the app header is now white and the elements are green, which is the same shade used in the app logo. The app's sign now appears in a new font, also in green.

The navigation bar now appears at the bottom of the screen, a change that is already being implemented. There will also be several filter options in the app, just like in an email inbox. With the filters, specific messages will be easier to find. They are: All, Unread, Personal and Business. The filter feature was already part of previous beta versions, but in this version it arrives with a new look.

The new design features are currently available to a small group of beta testers and should be rolled out to more testers in the coming weeks before being released to all users. While this is expected, there is still no set date for when this will happen.

The app is also testing a change to the call interface, mentioning the type of call being made, highlighting that it is protected by end-to-end encryption and adding the “add participants” button, making this feature more evident. This new feature is available to beta users of version 2.23.17.6 for Android and iOS and should reach the stable version in the coming weeks, covering all users.
