What is IP certification?
IP ratings are used to indicate a device’s water and dust resistance. The first digit ranges from 1 to 6 and classifies the device’s protection against solid particles. The latter represents resistance to water and other liquids and ranges from 1 to 8, with higher numbers providing greater protection. So, to buy a waterproof phone, the last digit should be 7 or 8. The first number protects against submersion in fresh water up to a depth of 1m for up to 30 minutes. The second protects against prolonged immersion in fresh water and under pressure, usually up to 1.5m deep.
