Sending high-resolution photos
Generally, photos sent via WhatsApp lose quality and look a little bad. That's why the app has launched a feature that allows you to the photos are sent in high quality. The feature is available in version 2.23.12.78, the beta version, and can already be used by some users. When sending an image, the “HD” option will be available at the top of the screen, allowing the user to send the photo in high resolution, without losing its quality.
This feature is also being tested for sending high-quality videos and is also available to beta users. The expectation is that if everything goes well, it will soon be available to all users of the platform.
Silence unknown calls
This feature is also undergoing testing and allows WhatsApp users to silence calls from unknown people, with the aim of avoiding spam, fraud and contacts from people we don't know, ensuring more privacy and security.
To activate the feature, simply access the settings menu on the app's home screen and click on “Privacy”. Then, simply click on “Calls” and “Silence unknown calls”. Finally, simply click on “Blocking”. From then on, the feature will be activated and you will no longer receive unwanted calls.
In-app channels
Another recent feature is Channels, which allows users and businesses to send messages to a limited number of users. The feature is very similar to one that already exists in the Telegram app, WhatsApp's main competitor.
The feature is different from the communities, which already exist in the app, which is also a very recent feature of the platform. The new function will be available in a tab called “Updates”, which will be added in a separate location from the communities and other conversations. The feature, however, is already available in some countries, but has not yet arrived in Brazil.
