The company may be working on a revolutionary product, different from anything it already has in its catalog.

Apple has always sought to innovate its devices, which are usually best-sellers. The brand is currently working on its new model, the iPhone 15, which is expected to be released soon and promises to feature new features and tools that will catch the attention of users.

However, the manufacturer may also be working on, or at least designing, a new model that goes beyond foldable devices and promises to revolutionize the smartphone market and will be the talk of the town.

Innovation

Apple may be working on a new project that goes against everything the company has done over the years. And unlike all the other manufacturers, which are betting on foldable devices, Apple doesn't want to invest in this type of model, but it goes further. The company may be working on a rollable iPhone, as well as an iPad and MacBook of the same style.

The Patently Apple website, which specializes in the company's patents, has a new revelation: a foldable, roll-up technology. This way, when the phone is not being used, it can be completely folded, allowing it to be even more portable than a regular phone.

According to the patent document, the device will have a display that can be rolled up for storage and unrolled for use and viewing. However, the task will be complex, as it is necessary to value the quality of the product, in addition to its aesthetics. With this, it is also expected that when closed, the external part of the screen will have a surface that is resistant to scratches and impacts, to avoid any type of damage and problems on the device's screen.

But despite having the patent, there is no certainty that Apple will launch this type of device. A few years ago, the manufacturer already registered another patent in which the product rolled up and unrolled like a scroll, but it never reached the market. This was probably due to the high production costs, which would have to be passed on to the consumer, greatly increasing the final price of the device.

The technology, if not applied to iPhones, can also be used in other products such as iPads and Macs, which can be foldable, as well as rollable, which would be easier to produce, as we see in other brands, such as Xiaomi, Samsung and Motorola, which invest in this type of model.

Other brands, including LG, Motorola and OPPO, have also registered patents for rollable products, but they never came to fruition. If Apple decides to actually invest in this type of product, it will be a novelty on the market.

The manufacturer, in turn, did not say whether it is working on the model or whether it will do so soon. The company also did not disclose information about the registered patent.

iPhone 15

Apple is currently working on its new release, the iPhone 15, which is expected to be launched in the coming months and is expected to be the brand's most expensive smartphone to date. The company is looking to manufacture more than 80 million units, to be distributed by the end of this year, worldwide. Sales of the new model are expected to surpass those of its previous model, the iPhone 14, which was launched last year and is the brand's most current model.
