Check out a new control feature on WhatsApp. Learn how to do it!

Despite being a highly requested feature by some users, WhatsApp video messaging isn’t for everyone. So in a beta update released for Android and iOS earlier this week, Messenger removed the option to disable the feature in Settings. According to the team at WABetaInfo, there have been some new changes to the chat settings, which can be seen in the app.

For those who don't remember, before video messages were enabled by default, the recording button was the same one used for voice messages, which confused some users. Currently, this option is slowly and gradually being rolled out to WhatsApp beta users on Android and iOS, and in some cases, Messenger has already disabled video messages by default. In the meantime, the app has also improved its interface and has been in testing for some time and has released some features.

Other resources

Another feature that WhatsApp has recently started testing is showing group message history to new members added by admins. This update is available for the chat on the Android Beta version. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature improves the group chat experience by allowing groups to automatically share messages from the last 24 hours, even before anyone joins. This feature is still under development, but with the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android, version 2.23.18.17 available on the Google Play Store, you will already find a new introductory screen for this feature.

Basically, this new update aims to help new group members see the messages sent before joining a chat, which has been requested by users. This feature is expected to improve the experience and make it easier for everyone to connect.

However, this option still needs to be enabled by a group admin. WhatsApp also emphasizes that all messages remain private and protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your secure content. Therefore, when a message is sent to a new member's device, a new encryption key is generated to protect the message. The tool is still under development and will be released to all users soon.

Interface changes

Furthermore, with the new beta launched last Thursday, the 31st, WhatsApp for Android has made a major overhaul to the application's home screen.

Also according to a WAbetaInfo contributor, version 2.23.18.18 removed the green header and now only the application name uses this hue, making the interface even cleaner.

Another interesting detail is that the font of the WhatsApp name has also been changed and the filter button is now more prominent. The dark theme has also adopted this change, but it is not yet a completely black theme and is closer to gray. This improvement is currently being tested with a limited number of users in the WhatsApp beta channel. As a result, we also know that not everyone will benefit from this improvement and it may take some time before it is released to the public.

Still, it's interesting to note that WhatsApp has been listening to public feedback and launching various adjustments for iOS and Android.
