If you are planning to buy a foldable device, check out the tests carried out. Learn more about the safety of the device.
Consumers who spend money on foldable devices are often concerned about the durability of their new device. After all, we are in the era of bendable glass, which was never originally intended for this purpose. But companies like Samsung and Motorola have shown that it can be done, implementing the concept years ago.
In fact, technology is advancing to the point where this type of development is possible. But is this type of cell phone safe? Keep reading to find out more.

Durability tests
Since the prototypes of foldable cell phones, companies carry out durability tests. This procedure is important to prove that a product is good. The Korean brand Samsung decided to prove this by releasing the test results for two of the newest releases in its foldable lines: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
There were many evaluations carried out. The one that stood out the most was the one that tested the device's hinge. This is because both new models were made with a technology called Flex Hinge, designed from an updated rail structure. The new feature promises to dissipate the force of each impact.
New in the hinge
The innovation, as demonstrated by the brand, makes the devices more resistant. The promise is that they will withstand more than 200 thousand folding and unfolding cycles.
In other words, if you do the math, with regular use, with about a hundred openings per day, the phones should last for at least five years. In addition, there is another change in the way the screen closes, now in a teardrop pattern. This solution was already available in some competing companies. Its main purpose is to help keep both parts of the screen together when the smartphone is closed, leaving no excess parts or gaps. In addition, the new feature in Samsung devices also reduces the visibility of the crease present in the foldable display, which promises to increase comfort when using it, in addition to making the design more attractive.
Other tests
You Z Fold cell phones 5 and Z Flip 5 withstood not only hinge tests, but other feats as well. There was the drop test, in which a machine makes them fall and roll numerous times. In addition to this, there was also the IPX8 resistance test, in which the device must withstand and function without problems underwater.
Another test carried out was the IPX4 Resistance test, also related to water, but a little different. In this test, the smartphone needs to withstand water jets without showing any damage.
In addition, there was a test at different temperatures, pressures and humidity levels for long periods of time. Also a drop test more common in the user's life, with simulated falls from various heights.
Tests were carried out on the screen, in which the S-Pen was used intensively to observe its resistance to scratches and marks. In addition, a small metal ball was thrown onto the screen to simulate direct impact on the panel.
