Cloud Service

Apple decided to close this Wednesday (26), the service “My Photo Sharing”, which works as a temporary folder in the cloud. The tool keeps up to a thousand photos saved for a period of one month, even if the iCloud account the user has no more storage space.

With the company's decision, the images saved in the resource will be deleted. If the photos are also saved in the device's memory, they will not be lost. However, if the images are only in this cloud, they cannot be recovered and users will no longer have access to them.

Announcement

And Apple said that if there is a photo that the user wants to have and it is not in the library, an iPhone, iPad or specific Mac, it is important to save it to the library of that device.

The company has not been accepting new uploads to the tool for a month and has informed that it will be possible to use the “iCloud Photos” service, which only allows you to save photos and videos if iCloud has enough space.

How to save photos

To save images from “My Photo Stream” to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to the “Photos” app and click on “Albums”;
  2. Click on “My Photo Stream”;
  3. Select the images you want to save;
  4. Click “Share”;
  5. And then select the “Save Image” option.

If you have a Mac and want to save your photos, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the “Photos” app on your device;
  2. Select the images you want to have but are not saved on your device;
  3. Drag them from the album to your library and you're done.

How the service worked

Apple's "My Photo Stream" has been in operation since 2011 and allowed images captured by devices to be saved in the cloud, without using iCloud storage. Years later, in 2015, the company launched iCloud Photo Library, which has the same function, however, the images saved in this tool use the device's iCloud storage.

The company will discontinue the service, as it is seen as old and theoretically no longer needs to be used because of iCloud. However, the company's move may leave some users who prefer "My Photo Stream" unhappy, as it can store up to 1,000 images from the last 30 days and can be easily accessed on other devices of the brand.

The service will be discontinued today, but the images contained in it will be available for 30 days. After that period, users who have not saved these files will no longer be able to access them.
