Long-awaited feature finally arrives on WhatsApp. See when the tool will arrive on Android phones.
The moment that many WhatsApp users have been waiting for has finally arrived. The app has discovered a way to use two accounts on the same phone at the same time without resorting to tricks. This is a problem that has plagued messaging app users for years.
Previously, it was necessary to log out of one account to access the other, but today that has changed. The announcement was made this Thursday (19) by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (owner of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook). The new feature will be gradually released for Android smartphones and will be available to everyone “in the coming weeks and months” as updates to the application are made available. Continue reading and understand when the feature will arrive for users.
Meta acknowledged that the process could take months. Additionally, the company didn't say if or when the feature would come to the iPhone. In order to have a second account in the app, you must have a second cellular connection working on your device. This can be done by using multiple SIM cards (commonly called SIM cards) in your phone that support multiple ports, or by using an eSIM chip that's already built into your phone.
But there is still hope for Apple smartphone owners. Since the feature allows phones to be equipped with an eSIM, it would allow you to use two lines on your iPhone.
How to add additional accounts to the app
- Enter the settings menu.
- Then, click the arrow next to your name and click Add Account. From there, you can control the privacy and notification options for each account.
This new feature is especially useful for those who use WhatsApp for work. Several tricks have been used so far. Some people used a single device and switched between two accounts on the app. Since two accounts cannot work at the same time on mobile phones, when the user needed to use them on the same device, it was necessary to disconnect one SIM card and connect the other when switching. The process involves replacing the SIM card or switching, if the mobile phone has this function.
Because of this difficulty, situations often occurred where messages were sent from the wrong account. Some people carried two phones, one for personal conversations and one for work, to avoid jumping from one account to another. A third group installed WhatsApp Business and created a second WhatsApp account to use the business version of the app.
The same WhatsApp on more than one cell phone
For the reasons mentioned above, having two accounts Having WhatsApp on one smartphone at the same time is a great innovation. In addition, starting this month, the application will allow you to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices. In practice, this means that you can now use one profile on four different smartphones.
Previously, you could only connect WhatsApp to a phone, as well as your computer and tablet. Access outside of your phone is done through WhatsApp Web. These changes will make it easier to serve customers within your business, for example, and allow multiple people to respond to requests using the same WhatsApp Business account.
Now, you can also keep a backup phone on the same account in case your primary device is lost or the battery dies. To sign in to the same account on another device, follow these steps:
- Install the app on an unconfigured phone.
- Now, go to Settings (iPhone) or Three Dots (Android).
- Then click on Connected devices and then on Connect device.
- Use your primary phone to scan the QR code on your secondary phone (the same way you use WhatsApp Web). That’s it. The same WhatsApp account will appear on both devices.
