Discover more about this technology that is present in the daily lives of Brazilians.
Technology advances more and more every day. There are countless new terms and functions that you can use to keep up with and make the most of in your daily life. Thinking broadly, smartphones are no longer just for making calls and sending messages. Cell phones offer many more features.
One example of this feature is NFC. A technology that is becoming increasingly popular among Brazilians. Even though many people use NFC, some don’t even know the name of this tool. So, if you want to know everything about this element that is used today, keep reading.
What is it?
NFC stands for Near Field Communication. In short, it is a technology designed for wireless data exchange, the famous “approximation”. That said, the main way NFC is used in smartphones is for payments at card machines. However, there are several other functions, such as data transmission or electronic unlocking. In general, applications such as Google Pay and Apple Pay use your phone's NFC chip to mimic the radio frequency tag on your bank card. So when the terminal itself approaches the card machine, the payment is made.
Most experts consider NFC to be a very secure technology, due to its short-range communication. With this in mind, to steal a signal, for example, the criminal must be very close to the victim. The program also provides greater protection when large amounts are passed, asking for the password. Or better yet, it can ask for the insertion of a PIN or a biometric sensor.
So far, you don’t have the option to install NFC on your phone, because this feature requires a transmitter in the device’s hardware itself. Therefore, anyone who wants to have a phone with NFC must buy a device that already has this technology. To check if your mobile device already has NFC, go to Settings and look for “NFC” in the connections tab, or similar on your phone.
