Check out Vivo's changes to its plans. Some rates will help consumers' pockets a lot.
Vivo is reducing the prices of Vivo Total, its service that combines fiber internet and mobile telephony, in several cities across the country. For example, in São Paulo, the cheapest Vivo Total plan now costs R$150 per month, a reduction of R$20. The plan includes mobile internet with Vivo Fibra 300Mb/s and 20GB capacity.
Vivo Total Pro, which offers 500 Mbps and 50 GB of mobile data via fiber, costs R$180 per month (reduction from R$20). The rest of the Vivo Total combo appears unchanged, starting from R$270 to R$1,200. Reference prices apply to the city of São Paulo.
Vivo Total offers cheaper prices
All Vivo Total plans offer the Vivo Travel Americas service, which allows customers to use the company's network in US countries. For Vivo Total Família 3 and 5 plans, the offer has been expanded to also be available in continental Europe. It is worth noting that Vivo Total V and V 1 use Vivo Travel Mundo globally. Vivo Total Essential and Vivo Pro do not allow you to include additional lines in your subscription. This new Vivo Total plan price also applies to cities in the metropolitan region. However, check the service provider's website to find out if your city offers this combination and if the prices are up to date (https://www.vivo.com.br/para-voce/produtos-e-servicos/combos/vivo-total).
For reference, the price of personal internet via postpaid, control and optical cables is scheduled to increase in February 2023.
Vivo offers the fastest network on the market
In addition to having new plans, Vivo operator was elected the fastest mobile internet provider in the country. In the last quarter, the company achieved an average speed of 47.44 Mbps. The difference is small compared to Claro, which came in second place with an average connection speed of 46.67 Mbit/s. TIM came in third place in the network with 43.34 Mbit/s.
This data is compiled by Ookla based on millions of speedometer measurements taken by Speetest.net during the third quarter of 2023. This report is interesting, but always keep in mind that network conditions may vary depending on your location.
Company may end unlimited access to WhatsApp
In an interview conducted earlier this year, Vivo CEO Christian Gebara discussed zero rating, where the company 'sponsors' certain services for users who get unlimited access to social media from certain packages.
Anatel's public consultation on the topic was part of the regulatory debate on the responsibility of large technology companies with regard to telecommunications networks. For the Vivo brandGebara highlighted that data usage is currently growing significantly across its global network. However, five or six major technology companies are responsible for more than 50% of telecom infrastructure traffic. As such, Vivo executives stressed that this scenario would force mobile operators to invest in expanding network capacity rather than covering new territories. “To expand reach, network investments must be distributed to responsible agents. This is the main theme,” Gebara said.
