Understand everything about Xiaomi devices. Find out which line fits your routine.

With so many Xiaomi phones on the market, it’s easy to get confused when buying one. Just looking at the price tag alone won’t always give you the best value for money. Because the company “hides” better models with good technical specifications and a fair price.

Xiaomi phones come in three brands: Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco. Each brand has a specific target audience, and it’s important to understand the differences and similarities between each one to know which one you like the most. The easiest and safest way to do this is to explain them one by one. So, keep reading and get access to a guide to Xiaomi’s lines.

Xiaomi

So to speak, the “main” line is the one with the most premium models. It is divided into number generations and has two different models each year, usually. The most recent is the Xiaomi 13 and derivatives, and soon we will have the Xiaomi 13T and derivatives. It is very easy to differentiate each model here. The variants include a lite, premium and intermediate model. The basic model, which is the best model without significant differences, Pro, which already has some improvements in the camera and Ultra, more complete and powerful. In other words, the more complete, the higher the price.

Redmi

This is where things start to get more complicated at Xiaomi. Redmi phones are divided into Redmi and Redmi Note models. However, it is not easy and there are Chinese, Indian and global models. In 2023 alone, we have Redmi 12, 12 5G and 12C. At least it's not that hard to understand. 12C is simpler, 12 is a slightly more powerful version, but still 4G. And while the 12 5G is the most mature, it's still an entry-level phone.

Then came the even more confusing Redmi Note lineup. First up, as we have the Redmi Note 12 4G, which is almost identical to the Redmi 12. Then there's the 5G option, the Redmi Note 12. There's also the Redmi Note 12s, Note 12 pro, and Note 12 Pro Plus. It's very convoluted and difficult to try to explain each one. For example, the 12S is not 5G. So it's worth paying attention before you buy.

Pit

The Poco range ranges from basic mid-range models to premium and semi-premium models. The idea is to offer a model that offers the best value for money, that is, a model that has good specifications but is also economical enough to offer a good price. The biggest problem is not understanding exactly how Xiaomi's lines are separated, which is quite difficult.

THE Poco line M is the most basic, but the X is a bit ahead. Finally, the F line already borders on the premium mid-range. Fortunately, in addition to the basic version, there is only one Pro version, which is even better. However, you should pay attention to other issues related to Poco phones. And it is good to compare prices to see which ones are similar.

Always prefer the global version

Xiaomi has several versions of the same phone, the most common being the Chinese, Indian and global versions. The first two are usually cheaper, but it is best to always choose the global version as it has the most ready-to-use software in Brazil. The Chinese version is the least recommended, as it comes without Google services and requires some work to install. The Indian apps are not bad at all, but there are still many really unnecessary apps that are not used here. Some don't even work well outside of India.

Pay attention to memory capacity

Comparing the price of Xiaomi phones is not an easy task. Sometimes you can find a good price on a more beautiful model, but looking at the storage capacity, other models make up for it.

The cheapest model in a store is not always the most profitable. It is not uncommon to find versions that offer more RAM and storage for less money. And on the same website. Therefore, it is better to pay attention to this than to choose the cheapest one right away. Explore the memory options available for your most desired model.

Xiaomi “twin” models

Xiaomi currently has three lines of smartphones. Redmi and Poco are theoretically independent companies, but we know that this is not the case. And both brands have very similar models with subtle variations that could be called “twins”. For example, this applies to the Redmi Note 12 Turbo launched in the West with the Poco F5. However, here there are models from both brands, as is the case with the Poco M6 Pro, rebranded as Redmi 12 5G.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to know which model has a “twin”, the company reuses many models. This is because it helps to reduce research and development costs. The advice is to search for everything you need and make a list of several phones, and then look for other Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco phones that look similar.
