The new Digital Traffic Card (CDT) feature provides a simplified and efficient way to transfer fine points. Now, when a vehicle is loaned and its driver commits an infraction, the owner can indicate the person truly responsible for the infraction directly through the app. The process, which previously involved bureaucracy and travel, can now be done entirely online, eliminating the need for physical attendance or sending documents by post. Both the owner and the offending driver must have a gov.br account with a silver or gold seal to access and use this feature. After the owner registers the offender's details in the app, the indicated driver receives a notification to confirm their responsibility. The procedure must be completed within 30 days after notification of the infraction, ensuring that the transfer of points occurs efficiently and accurately.

Benefits of the Digital Transit Wallet

The introduction of the CDT for transferring fine points brings a series of advantages to drivers. Firstly, the functionality allows the process to be carried out from anywhere, as long as there is internet access, eliminating the need to travel to physical service centers. This method is not only convenient, but it also reduces bureaucracy, making the process more agile. Since its implementation in November 2023, there has been a significant increase in the adoption of this functionality. In 2023, 409 points transfers were recorded via the application, and in the first five months of 2024, this number grew to 1,384, demonstrating the growing acceptance among drivers in Minas Gerais.

Alternatives to Points Transfer

Despite the advantages offered by the CDT, there are other options for transferring points that drivers can still consider. Those who prefer traditional methods can go in person to the Administrative City in Belo Horizonte or to a Regional Traffic Office (Ciretran) unit in the interior of the state. Another alternative is to send documents by post, as indicated in the notification received. For drivers looking for an alternative online solution, the Virtual UAI available on the official website of the Minas Gerais Traffic Department (www.transito.mg.gov.br) is an option. However, this alternative requires the sending of scanned documents and may involve a more lengthy analysis. Each method has its peculiarities, and the choice between them will depend on the individual preferences and needs of the driver.

With the implementation of the new CDT functionality, the administration of traffic fines in Minas Gerais gained a new dimension of efficiency and convenience, reflecting the growing digital advancement in the transportation sector.
