Having trouble with your platform? Learn what's going on with Threads.

Meta's new social network, Threads, has already lost half of its users a week after its initial success. The estimates were calculated on a website and published last Monday (17). Built with features similar to Twitter, the platform reached 49 million active users registered on Android phones on Friday (7). This figure is equivalent to 45% of the number of profiles on Twitter on the same day and in the same week. However, on the following Friday, July 14, this number fell to 23.6 million, or 22% of the number of Twitter profiles in these terms.

The most active country on Threads when it launched on the 7th was the United States, with an average of 21 minutes per user. On the 14th, that time dropped to 6 minutes. In the first two days after Threads launched, Twitter traffic dropped by 5% compared to the same day last week. However, Elon Musk’s average usage time on the network is 25 minutes. Read on to see the likely reasons for this.

Beware of Instagram

One reason why customers “give up” on the platform may be the loss of other networks. For those who don’t know, deleting your Threads profile will also automatically delete your Instagram account. However, there are alternatives.

Meta explains that Threads is a service provided by Instagram and allows users to create a profile as part of their Instagram account. In other words, the two platforms are connected. You must have an Instagram account to create a profile on Instagram. Twitter rival

According to the company, your Threads profile may be deleted, but your Instagram account will also be deleted. However, you can temporarily deactivate your account. Follow the steps below.

  • Tap the “Settings” icon in the top left corner.
  • Tap “Account” and then “Deactivate Profile.”
  • Finally, press “Disable Threads Profile”.

Recent update

There's also good news for the network. Meta has released an update to the iOS version of Threads, the second since the app was released two weeks ago. The new feature brings interesting options. There is now translation and a “Followers” tab in the feed, which displays all of the user’s recent followers.

According to Threads developer Cameron Roth, this new update brings several changes that will improve the usability of the app. It also adds some hidden improvements to the feed, including the ability to “tapable repost tags,” the ability to write to users you don’t follow, and the ability to open a list of Instagram followers for a specific user.

The update is rolling out, but Roth said users may need to restart the app to see the changes. According to some sites, there is no word yet on when an equivalent update will be released for Android systems.

However, while this is a step forward, this update still lacks some of the most requested features from users, including a chronological feed, the ability to direct messages, or use hashtags and emojis. Additionally, as mentioned, it is still impossible to completely remove the network without deleting your Instagram account. Another point is that Threads does not even have a full web version, making it difficult to use the social network on the desktop.

That said, there is still a lot to improve on the platform to make it more attractive to the public.
