Learn how to easily measure your internet. You can do it on your cell phone or computer.

Do you feel like your mobile Wi-Fi connection is too slow? It could be because your Wi-Fi network is congested or slow. But how can you be sure? By measuring your internet.  

Nowadays, there are several websites and apps that can measure your internet speed, even on your cell phone. Keep reading and you will learn how to measure the speed of your internet connection on your phone.

There are many websites that offer services internet test, but often the results are not very accurate from site to site and can vary greatly. That's why this tutorial was made using Google's testing service, which is used to measure data transfer speeds on networks in a more secure and transparent way.  

How to measure your connection speed   

Step 1: Go to the Google homepage in your browser and search for “Internet Test” in the search box. You can find Google’s Internet speed test program. Click “Run Speed Test.”    

Step 2: The engine first checks the data transfer rate of the download.

Step 3. This will check your upload data transfer rate.    

Step 4. Finally, you can check the average speed of your internet network in Mbps download and upload.  

You can also see the latency of your Wi-Fi connection and the starting location of your internet servers. Google also provides connection diagnostics, giving you examples of what your connection can do and what slows it down.   

Measure on the computer 

If you want to measure the speed of your laptop or PC, there is also that option. As with mobile phones, there are countless websites, apps and extensions that can help you with this. However, there is a much simpler, free tool that is already available on your device, if it is Windows.  

Windows 10 has a tool to test the speed of your Wi-Fi without installing any program on your computer. In addition to managing the speed of sending and receiving data, this feature informs the network name, connection type, IP address (v4 and v6) and signal strength. In other words, everything you need to measure your internet and much more.  

If you don't know how to access this feature on your Windows, don't worry. Below, there is a tutorial with all the necessary steps so that you can see and learn how to take advantage of the features available natively on your Microsoft system. This way, you can be sure that your network is delivering the performance promised by the contracted operators. Follow the steps and find out:  

Step 1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys simultaneously to open Windows Task Manager.    

Step 2. In the window that opens, click on the “More information” option at the bottom.   

Step 3. Now select the “Performance” tab.    

Step 4. Now just click on the Wi-Fi entry in the section. You can check information about your wireless network. 

There you go, now you know how to measure your internet, in case it is not delivering what you want.
