Samsung and Apple have both taken their beloved phones off the global market in recent years. Remember!
Last year marked the end of cell phones, which became a real craze in Brazil in the last decade. This model was synonymous with fame and status, but ended up giving way to Apple and Samsung over the years.
Despite its great features at first, the advent of 4G and improvements in touchscreens, as well as the arrival of iOS and Android, have made this phone obsolete. Last year, BlackBerry announced that it would stop selling phones and would no longer provide support for customers' phones. Read on to find out more.

Outdated model
Cell phones produced by the iconic company Blackberry have stopped receiving support as of January 2022. As a result, users expect that these devices will lose functionality over time, as the company will no longer offer updates to the device. The expected failures are related to voice calls, sending SMS and browsing the Internet. Products that use the BlackBerry operating system versions 7.1 and 10 are most affected, while models that use the Android system will continue to function normally for a while longer.
Customers of the brand knew it was only a matter of time, especially since in 2020, BlackBerry announced in a statement that it was ending services for BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS. In addition, the company stated that the device cannot send or receive data, make calls or send messages securely.
Pioneering company
The BlackBerry brand is known as a pioneer in the early years of the smartphone business, despite facing obstacles at times. It has been in the industry since 1984, when it was founded as Research in Motion (RIM). Since then, it has launched excellent devices such as the Blackberry 5810 with electronic calendar and 2G network in the early 2000s. There are other models in the public's memory such as the BlackBerry 7210 and the Pearl 8100.
We know that between 2007 and 2008 the market was marked by competition from Apple and first iPhone. However, in the early 2010s, BlackBerry was still competing directly with Apple and Samsung. According to Gartner, at that time the brand accounted for 16% of cell phone sales. Samsung had 22.7% of devices and Apple 15.7%.
Later, the company faced the rise of the Android system developed by Google. In 2013, it launched the BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 to reignite the flame in the market, but failed to achieve sales volume. Three years later, in 2016, it entered into a partnership with the Chinese giant TCL, which began producing cell phones under the BlackBerry brand, but with the Android system. The so-called Motion did not sell well and did not change the face of the brand in the market. The company then went losing space.
Although it has diminished over time, BlackBerry's leadership was characterized by innovations such as encrypted messaging, high-quality physical keyboards, and high-performance hardware.
BlackBerry currently
As reported by the Tilt Uol portal, the company has started developing digital security software and an integrated operating system for cars. Preventing further losses is now the brand's focus, which has given up on smartphones.
