The brand's new smartphones, which will be launched soon, will have more time for system updates. Find out more!
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones will be Google's next releases. The models are causing a stir after several rumors and leaks about their specifications and design. In yet another alleged recent leak of the phones' specifications table, it is shown that the company's devices would receive four more Android updates, while the current models receive three updates to the operating system.
If this information is confirmed on October 4th, the launch date of the devices, the company will have the Android phone with the greatest support for operating system updates. However, there is a catch to the information, as the interpretation of the leak is wrong.
In the leaked document, the text about support states that it will be “seven years of operating system updates, security and Feature Drops”. This sentence leaves room for doubt, as it can be interpreted that the three features will have seven years of support. However, the Android update may be “only” five years. Learn more about this subject and stay up to date with Google’s next releases.

Updates
Currently, Google delivers five years of updates to its phones, three of which are from Android and two security updates. If the leaked specification is true and follows this formula (two more years of support for security updates than for the operating system), that will be five years of Android, which is one year more than what Samsung currently offers.
Seven years of operating system updates sounds good, but it may not turn out as expected. The iPhone 6s had six system updates, stopping at iOS 15 in 2021. It delivered some features, but others didn't arrive.
The main problem is that the hardware remains the same as at launch, and as a result, several features may be limited by the already outdated device. However, this could be a new feature for mobile phones, which would give Google an advantage in competing with Samsung.
Launch
The phones will be launched on October 4th at 5pm Brasília time. In addition to the Pixel 8 and Pixel Pro, Google will also introduce the Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch and the Pixel Buds Pro headphones. These models will be the first to receive Android 14 as their operating system.
With their more advanced features, the models are expected to be more expensive than the Pixel 7 line. The Pixel 8 line is Google's latest bet to compete with phones that are already on the market, such as some from Samsung and Apple, which recently launched its 15th generation. of iPhones.
Specifications
According to leaks, the Pixel 8 Pro is the most advanced model and should arrive with the Tensor 3G processor, 128 or 256 GB of internal memory and 8 GB of RAM. The phone's screen is expected to be a 6.7-inch OLED with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The battery is expected to have a capacity of 5,000 mAh, with 27 W fast charging. It should have a 50 MP main camera, a 64 MP ultrawide lens and a 48 MP periscope lens. The phone is also expected to come in three colors: black, gray and blue.
