Aiming to meet the needs of its customers, Nubank offers a service cell phone insurance, promising to protect smartphones from some problems. Thus, customers who have cell phone insurance from the bank, they get coverage for accidental damage, simple and qualified theft, as well as robbery.

The institution's insurance has a 30-day grace period from the date the user purchases the service. Therefore, during this one-month period, the cell phone will not be protected by the insurance. To activate it, there are three options: by calling 0800 608 6236, by emailing meajuda@nubank.com.br or by using the chat available in the app.

After requesting the service, the user will receive a link for payment, which can be made via bank slip or credit card in up to 3 interest-free installments. The deductible is intended to reduce monthly insurance payments and must be paid if the service is activated.

Therefore, if the customer does not add insurance during the one-year period of the contract, there will be no deductible charge. When the insurance is approved, the customer receives a refurbished device equal to the one he has. If there is no similar model available, a list of similar cell phones will be sent so that he can choose which one he wants.

The device offered by the insurance company has a three-month warranty. According to the bank, the cell phones undergo a rigorous quality control process and function in the same way as a new device.

How to purchase insurance

  1. Open the Nubank app;
  2. Select the “$” option in the bottom menu of the app;
  3. Go to the “Insurance” option;
  4. Click on “Learn more”, which appears next to “Cell phone insurance”
  5. Select the “Simulate now” option;
  6. Choose the type of coverage you want and click “Continue”. The monthly amount varies according to the coverage chosen by the user;
  7. The app will check the cell phone's IMEI;
  8. Then click on the arrow and then on “Continue”;
  9. Choose the payment option, between card or account balance;
  10. Read the insurance information and tap “Buy insurance”.

Values

The cost of Nubank cell phone insurance varies depending on the device and the service contracted by the user. The price is paid on the same date of contracting each month through a bank account or credit card. If the payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, it will only be charged on the next business day.

The insurance claim will depend on the incident. In cases of theft or robbery, the customer must request the IMEI to be blocked and file a police report. After that, the problem must be registered on the insurance website and the deductible must be paid via Pix, bank slip or card.

In the case of accidental damage, the insured must also report the problem and pay the deductible. If the cell phone is an Apple or Xiaomi, it is necessary to unlink the account registered to it and send it to the insurer.
