When it comes to buying a new cell phone, several questions pop into our heads and leave us confused about which is the best option to invest in. Currently, when looking for a mid-range model, many consumers may have doubts about which would be the ideal cell phone: the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G, from Xiaomi, or the Galaxy A34, from Samsung.

Samsung x Xiaomi

In terms of design, both phones feature a plastic body on the back and sides. The Redmi has a metallic paint job and a domino-style camera block. The Galaxy It has a matte finish and has individual lenses on the cover, just like the brand's more expensive models. The Samsung cell phone has some advantages over the Xiaomi in this regard. It has a more compact and lightweight body and is IP67 certified, which guarantees resistance against water and dust.

The Note 12 Pro 4G has a fingerprint reader integrated into its power button, while the Galaxy has the reader under its screen. Xiaomi has a hole-shaped notch, unlike Samsung which has a teardrop-shaped notch. Both phones have the possibility of expanding storage, in addition to having fifth-generation Wi-Fi, NFC technology. Regarding Bluetooth, Samsung's 5.3 is more advanced than Xiaomi's 5.0.

Regarding the screen, both models have AMOLED technology, with a high brightness level and Full D+ resolution, which gives good image definition. Redmi's display is 6.67 inches, while Samsung's display is 6.6 inches. Xiaomi supports Dolby Vision. The A34 offers Gorilla Glass 3 protection against scratches.

When it comes to the operating system, the Redmi comes with Android 11 out of the box, but can be updated to Android 12. The Galaxy comes with Android 13 out of the box and will receive four software updates, in addition to 5 years of security updates.

The Galaxy model offers compatibility with 5G technology, while the Redmi is limited to only the fourth-generation internet. The Note 12 Pro comes equipped with the Snapdragon 732 G processor, an old chip, while the Galaxy comes with the Dimensity 1080 MediaTek. Both have 6 GB of RAM. In this regard, the Galaxy comes out on top, as it opens apps faster than its rival.

Both phones feature a 5,000 mAh battery, which has become a market standard. In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi phone lasts longer, taking longer to discharge. Speaking of charging, the Chinese model takes less time to charge, reaching 100% in just 51 minutes, while the South Korean model takes almost two hours to reach 100%.

As for the cameras, the Xiaomi mobile phone has a 108 MP main camera, while Samsung's has a 48 MP main camera. Despite this, Xiaomi does not fully exploit the hardware and takes photos with less sharpness than Samsung. In this case, the point goes to Samsung.

Price

Only Samsung has officially launched its smartphone in Brazil. Currently, the Galaxy A34 costs around R$1,500, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G costs around R$1,400 in national retail, through importers. In this regard, the Xiaomi smartphone takes the lead.

Xiaomi is a very good device, but the Galaxy has a more durable, compact and lightweight design, as well as 5G support. Since the price is slightly different, it is best to check which one is cheaper before making a decision.
