Deleting a photo by accident is bad enough, but losing your files due to a robbery is even worse. In addition to the fear that the situation causes, you also end up losing your device that stores so many memories in the form of photos and videos.
The good news is that there are some ways to recover your lost files, or at least a good portion of them.
Recovering photos from Google Photos
If you have a device that uses the Android operating system, then you may have already noticed that it comes with the Google Photos app. This is the system's cloud storage app. As soon as you use your phone for the first time, the app asks you which albums you want to have automatically backed up.
In this case, you just need to access your account with the same email on the new device or via your computer, log into your Google Photos account and synchronize the data and all your photos and videos will be there.
Even if you didn't activate the backup option, some of the files may have been saved automatically, so there is still hope! It's worth a try.
What if I have an iPhone?
The iPhone uses a different operating system, iOS. The cloud storage service for this system is iCloud and, as a rule, it already comes with automatic backup enabled from the factory.
To recover your photos, you will need to log into your iCloud account on your computer. Once the home page opens, click on the photos icon and select all the photos and videos you want to recover. Then just click on the download icon at the top of the page.
Some apps can also help you recover photos that have been deleted or if your device has been lost or stolen. There are several options available in the digital stores of Android and iOS, and then you can analyze and choose one that works best for you and your new device.
Unfortunately, if you don't have any kind of backup or cloud storage, it won't be possible to recover many things, but it doesn't hurt to try, especially because, as mentioned above, in some cases the automatic backup is already activated from the first use of the device.
Saving your files frequently can also help prevent you from losing documents or contacts if your device malfunctions. It also makes things easier if you need to format your device, because you won't have to worry about saving everything at once or forgetting an important folder.
It is important to remember to back up your phone whenever possible. Whether it be on a cloud (Google Photos or iCloud), on a computer or external hard drive. This way, even if something inconvenient happens, in which your cell phone is lost or stolen, your files will be available to be accessed on a new device or even on your computer.
