One UI 6.0 Beta Release
Samsung last week released the first beta version of One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 for the lineup Galaxy S23 in Germany, South Korea and the United States. As it is a beta version, the update may present several problems in running some applications, mainly financial ones, such as Google Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Pay.
Beta versions of operating systems are not certified by Google and only certified software can run payment applications. For this reason, users who use the version will encounter problems.
The standard version of Android is still not stable and Google has not yet released the final Android 14 update for Pixel phones. Therefore, if the user wants to install the beta version on their device, it is ideal to consider whether it is worth not being able to use payment apps.
Typically, Samsung releases five or six beta versions before releasing the stable version. In addition to the Galaxy S23 lineup, other lineups will receive the beta-based version. Android 14, like the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Performance issues
The version released last week presented several problems and bugs, causing performance issues. This Tuesday (15) the company released a new update to fix one of the critical bugs that affected mobile network connectivity on the device.
The update fixes this bug, which caused cellular networks to not work in some locations. The fix is limited to users in South Korea. The second update to One 6.0 is expected to be released by next week to fix other issues. The new update is also likely to be made available in China, India, Poland and the United Kingdom, kicking off the beta program in those countries.
However, only users in selected countries can sign up for the beta version. To do so, simply access the Samsung Members app and select the testing program option. The stable version is expected to be released in the last quarter of this year.
Interface changes
With the new update, Samsung should bring some new features to the interface, with changes in design. The new font should arrive with a more modern look, as well as a new design for notifications.
The camera app is also expected to receive a new design, where video settings, images, resolutions and filters will be easier to identify. UN 6.0 should also bring a more modern and vibrant look to emojis. The Weather app should also bring more information, such as moon phases, sunrise and sunset times, and other data.
Another change is expected to happen in Settings, where the Battery will have a new section. Previously, it was located in the “Device and Battery Care” section. The new section will show a graph with energy consumption, inform the last time the battery was charged and options for saving.
