Payment by QR Code

Since this Friday (8), public transport users in Porto Alegre can pay for their tickets through a digital system using a QR Code. To do this, the user needs to download the Tri app, register and start using the new technology.

The tool allows up to ten credits to be purchased with payment via the Pix system. The QR Code is available in the app so that the passenger can release the transport turnstile. To do so, simply display the image on the cell phone screen and place it on the reader located below the validation equipment, near the turnstile.

To make it easier to use, a support base was placed 15 centimeters from the device, so that the passenger can place the cell phone near it and have a reference of the distance needed for reading. According to the city hall, it is important to be attentive to the screen, if there is damage or low lighting, it may make it difficult to read the QR code.

In addition to this innovation, the app also has another new feature. For those who do not have a Tri card, the app provides a button that allows the card to be requested and collected at one of the indicated locations.

 Launch

In January of this year, payment via Pix was launched to top up the card. When making a purchase on the system's website or app, the customer has this option, in addition to the possibility of paying by bank slip and credit or debit cards.

The gradual implementation of the device, which is placed near the driver and emits a QR code on paper, began over a year ago. The feature is used in cases where the fare is paid in cash. The aim of this is to make it easier for the driver to operate, in a context where the presence of the fare collector is no longer required.

The technology makes Tri card credits available quickly, in just a few minutes. When recharging through the website or app, with payment by Pix or card, the amounts are released for use within half an hour. So, just hold your card up to the bus validator to receive the recharging. The technology is present in around 700 buses and should gradually reach all of them, making life easier for more users.

QR Code

QR Codes can be used to replace barcodes in some situations and are widely used to share data quickly, especially via cell phones. The technology was created in Japan in 1994.
