Turn on power saving mode

It may seem obvious, but this feature is extremely efficient. It’s called Power Saving mode, and it definitely saves power on your iPhone. You can find it in Settings > Battery.

This mode reduces the energy consumption from the device itself, including screen brightness, system animations, regular email checking, Hey Siri feature, background updates, automatic downloads from the App Store. Keep an eye on the apps you use the most so you don't miss anything new, as it can limit notifications.

Enable battery percentage

Another effective way to save battery is psychological. Turn on the battery percentage to see exactly how much power your iPhone has left before it runs out. This way, you won’t let your phone run out of power.

Reduce brightness and disable auto-adjustment

One of the biggest battery drains on any electronic device is the screen. And the brightness it uses. If you don’t need that bright screen, turn down the brightness on your iPhone to save battery. Oh, and I also recommend turning off automatic brightness control. Regularly checking the lighting conditions and adjusting the brightness also drains your iPhone's battery. To access these settings, go to Settings > Display & Brightness.

Enable automatic screen lock

You can also turn on Auto-Lock on your screen so that it doesn't stay on when you're not using your iPhone. That way, it stays off automatically. When you're done using your phone or if you won't be using it for a while, turn off the screen to save battery life.

Disable some settings that “eat” battery

Some settings on your iPhone update in the background, even when you’re not using it. For example, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop constantly scan for connections and devices, and even 4G/3G cellular connections. Turn off these connections by going to Control Center for the first three connections, and then turning off cellular data by going to Settings > Cellular (the antenna icon) and turning off cellular data.

Turn off animations

Remember those animations when you open a folder or unlock your phone? These transitions and icon effects that appear between screen changes also consume battery power. To disable this, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion and enable the option of the same name.

Limit background updates

You can limit background refreshes for each app, depending on which app is using the most battery. To do this, go to Settings > General > Background Refresh. Turn off app features that don't require regular notifications or updates. This will slightly improve battery life.

If this causes you to quickly run out of data, another option is to limit background updates to Wi-Fi only by clicking the arrow next to On. However, think about what makes sense for you. Is it worth restricting all background apps from running in order to extend battery life? You’ll have to choose between speed or battery life.

Avoid extreme temperatures

Finally, extreme temperatures can put a strain on your battery, making it less efficient. The ideal temperature for your iPhone or iPad is between 0°C and 35°C, so keep it within that range if possible.
