For those who are curious about what this device is, the Magic V Purse, a foldable phone that transforms into a wallet. Chinese electronics company Honor announced at IFA 2023 last Friday (1) that this model has a removable strap that allows you to hold the phone in your hand or on your shoulder.
Another difference from more common smartphones is that the screen background, which is always on, moves as if the pattern on the bag were changing, just like a person moves when walking. Honor Foldable
The release date of the Magic V Purse is currently unknown. The Honor model is also one of the few phones that folds upside down, meaning the screen is always on the outside. The design is brilliant, but the screen is prone to damage and scratches.
However, the company appears to be investing heavily in 'reverse' folding, and has also announced plans to invest in popularizing foldable phones.
In an official press release, Honor revealed that the phone was designed with an environmental focus and used sustainable materials such as vegan leather. In addition, according to the brand, the exposed backgrounds on the displays can help raise environmental awareness among residents.
The devices could help environmentally conscious consumers reduce their consumption of fast fashion and, more importantly, help the fashion world embrace new technologies to encourage consumers to buy less and wear for longer, the manufacturer concluded.
V Purse is a fashion component
The foldable device is just a concept and is available for preview at the tech event. The company describes the device as a modern, wearable bag, offering “endless possibilities for style and self-expression.”
Its design is compatible with multiple straps for use over the shoulder, or as a handbag. According to Honor, the phone bag is designed with sustainability in mind and features materials of sustainable origin, like vegan leather on the bracelets.
The phone is less than 9mm thick when folded, and unlike most foldable phones we have today, it has its screen on the outside, as mentioned earlier. The justification for the screen on the outside is its customizable always-on displays (AOSs), which mimic bag designs.
Honor Magic V2 Specifications
The phone has a 7.92-inch OLED screen when unfolded and a resolution of 2344×2156 pixels. Its screen features 3840 Hz PWM Dimming technology, which minimizes eye strain.
The rear camera set is made up of a 50 MP main camera (f/1.9), a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera (f/2.0) and a 20 MP telephoto camera (f/2.4).
The processor used is a latest generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the memory is 16 GB of RAM. Regarding the internal storage, it varies from model to model, ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB. Its battery has 5,000 mAh and its wired charging is 66 W.
