Be careful! Some habits can be dangerous for your phone.
If you’re someone who leaves your phone under your pillow or on your bed while it’s charging overnight, be careful. You might want to check this habit. Apple has warned about the dangers of such behavior.
In the user manual section of its website, the company states that the iPhone should only be charged “in a well-ventilated area.” Read on to understand the implications this can have on your smartphone.

Inadequate temperature
The biggest problem is that your phone heats up while charging, and if this heat has nowhere to escape, it can cause fire, electric shock, injury or damage to the device. It can even ruin the device completely.
Another point is that many people have cheap or broken cell phone chargers, but it is known that even original chargers have the risk of catching fire.
USB power adapters for iPhone and Apple products (sold separately) meet the required surface temperature limits established by applicable national regulations and international and regional safety standards. However, even within these limits, prolonged contact with hot surfaces may cause discomfort or injury.
In this regard, it is common sense to avoid skin contact with your phone, power adapter, or wireless charger while it is in operation or plugged in for long periods of time. For example, do not sleep on top of a device, power adapter, wireless charger, or place it under a blanket, pillow, or body when it is plugged in.
It’s best to keep your iPhone, power adapters, and all wireless chargers in a well-ventilated area when using or charging, Apple added in a statement.
The company advises against charge the phone at night, but some users still do it because it is the only time they have to do so.
Real dangers
According to the DailyMail newspaper, the UK's Kent Fire Service warns of the dangers of sleeping with your phone connected to a charger or plugged into a cable.
In a TikTok video, a law enforcement official gives three reasons why you should only charge your device while you’re awake. When you’re asleep, you have no sense of smell, so even if your phone catches fire, it won’t be noticeable. Plus, you could pass out after just three puffs of smoke. Third, many people have cheap or broken phone chargers that can malfunction. But even if you have original chargers, be careful. That said, even original chargers can catch fire.
Battery Risks
In addition to the risks, there is another reason not to leave your device plugged in for too long. Because it affects its lifespan. Normally, it takes up to 2 hours to fully charge the device, but when plugged in overnight, it stays on for more than 8 hours.
DailyMail points out that this increases the amount of heat the battery is exposed to and, consequently, affects your efficiency, forcing users to buy new phones prematurely.
