Find out everything about this new product from Xiaomi. It will arrive with the brand's new line of cell phones!
HyperOS is Xiaomi's new operating system, which was announced this Tuesday (17). According to the company, the replacement for the MIUI interface was designed to work with full integration between the brand's devices, including the Chinese brand's electric car. The new feature will be introduced in the brand's new series of devices, the 14 line. It does not yet have a scheduled release date, but the expectation is that the new devices will hit the Chinese market this October.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the HyperOS operating system resumes the company's 2017 mission of unifying the entire ecosystem of products and apps. However, there are still no details about the system's interface, only information that it is based on Android and the manufacturer's own system developed.
Check out everything that is known about the system's launch so far.
What is the system and how does it work?
HyperOS is the new operating system from Xiaomi manufacturer for cell phones, being the replacement for the MIUI interface, used in the brand's current cell phones. Described as something completely new and ecological, the company also detailed that HyperOS will be focused on people, cars and families, being initially launched with the series Xiaomi 14.
Despite being called a “new operating system”, the release is based on Android, as well as Huawei's HarmonyOS. However, Xiaomi has made major modifications to the basic structure of Google's system.
CEO Lei Jun mentioned that the HyperOS architecture has been “completely rewritten” and indicates a focus on supporting a large number of future devices and connections. The company, however, did not show what the interface or user experience will look like, so users will have to wait until the launch of the new series to find out what it will actually be like. It is also unclear how this will affect the brand’s phones outside of China.
What's the difference?
HyperOS differs from MIUI in several ways. Firstly, HyperOS was introduced as a response to perceived challenges with the old interface, acknowledging criticisms of its intrusiveness and the weight associated with the old custom ROM. Architecturally, HyperOS features a “rewritten architecture” indicating significant changes to the structure.
It is designed to offer “hyper performance, fluidity and connectivity between devices”, highlighting a specific focus on performance improvements and integration. While MIUI faced criticism that it could have contributed to Xiaomi’s lack of success, the new system is presented as a solution to those problems.
The system transition is also highlighted, marking the end of the road for MIUI, including a global strategy, with HyperOS planning to stop working on phones sold internationally, with the global ROM expected to launch over the next year.
Will MIUI phones continue to receive updates?
The new system will gradually replace the old system on Xiaomi devices. As a result, MIUI devices will continue to receive security updates for a while.
When will the new system be available?
Xiaomi plans to release the global ROM of HyperOS throughout the year of 2014. Therefore, the new system is expected to be available to users during this period. However, it is important to remember that specific release dates may change based on the company's strategic decisions.
