The smartphone market is very competitive, and for this reason, many brands seek to innovate their devices to get ahead. And here in Brazil, one brand occupies the first place in sales: Samsung. However, this is nothing new and the brand has been holding the position of darling for some time.

However, the second place is shared between two giant brands: Motorola and Apple, which have great devices in their catalog. Month after month the numbers change and the two brands end up sharing the second place of the second largest brand in the Brazilian market. And in your opinion, who will win the position?

Brazilian market

Samsung remains in its position as the best-selling cell phone brand in Brazil and saw a small increase in its sales in July, with 36,66% across the entire national market.

Second place, in turn, is always disputed by Motorola and Apple. In April, Apple grew, surpassed its rival and took second place with 19,99%. Motorola, in the same period, had a percentage of 20,77%, its smallest market share. The difference between the two companies was small, but it was enough for Apple to be considered the largest in Brazil at the time, due to the growth in sales.

However, the months passed and during the month of July Motorola returned to second place in sales, with a percentage of 18,18%, and with that, Apple returned to third place in the market, closing the month with 18,01% of total sales.

With the sales results for the month of July, the ranking was as follows, according to data from the StatCounter platform:

1st Samsung – 36.66%

2nd Motorola – 18.18%

3° Apple – 18.01%

4th Xiaomi – 12.17%

5th Unknown – 9.88%

6th LG – 3.14%

7th ASUS – 0.49%

Realme 8 – 0.31%

9° Nokia – 0.21%

10° Hawaii – 0.13%

Survey

The survey was carried out by StatCounter, which is a platform known for collecting data from different markets indicating the market share volume of each company, but does not disclose the methodology it uses to collect data in relation to the cell phone market.

The platform, however, explains on its website that the statistics are based on data collected by itself from a sample of more than 5 billion page views per month, collected across its entire network, from more than 1.5 million websites.

Sales in 2022

In the same period last year, Samsung and Motorola were on the rise in the market, with percentages of 42,07% for Samsung and 21,99% for Motorola. Comparing these numbers, in one year the South Korean giant suffered a drop of almost 6% in sales. Morotola, on the other hand, showed a drop of almost 4%.

During this period, Apple presented 14,91% of sales in the Brazilian market and Xiaomi maintained its average of 12% of sales, being the only brand to present stability, according to data collected by StatCounter.
