Galaxy Z Flip 5

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the new release from Samsung, which was announced at an event in South Korea on July 26. The cell phone is now available for pre-sale on the manufacturer's website, and orders should arrive in Brazil on August 11.

Screens

Among the main highlights of the model is its 3.4-inch external screen, which is 1.78 times larger than the screen of the previous model, the Z Flip 4. The internal screen is 6.7 inches and has Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and Full HD+ resolution, with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

The model also received improvements to its hinge, compared to its predecessor, which allows the device to close better, reducing the space between the screens when it is closed.

Cameras and battery

Some features, however, remain the same as the previous model, such as the camera setup and battery. Regarding the cameras, the model has two rear cameras. A 12 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 12 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The device's front sensor is wide, with 10 MP and an f/2.2 aperture, perfect for selfies and video calls.

As for the battery, it has a capacity of 3,700 mAh, the same as the Flip 4. The main difference is that the new processor consumes less energy, and therefore, the cell phone should spend more time away from the sockets.

Processor and RAM

It comes equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm's top-of-the-line model, recently launched, which is 35% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The processing allows for better gaming performance, smooth navigation and greater energy efficiency. The model has 8 GB of RAM, both in the 256 GB and 512 GB models, which guarantees greater fluidity and use without crashes.

System

The model has Android 13, with four updates for the system, going up to Android 17. It is also compatible with the 5G, has fingerprint sensors and is equipped with Samsung Knox, ensuring greater privacy during use.

Value

The model can be found for prices starting at R$7,799 in Samsung's online store.

Screens

This model has a 3.6-inch external pOLED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a 6.9-inch internal pOLED screen with a 165 Hz refresh rate.

System and battery

It comes with Android 13, has 5G connectivity and has a fingerprint reader. Its battery is 3,800 mAh, a larger capacity than the Z Flip 5, which is 3,700 mAh.

Value

The foldable cell phone can be found on its manufacturer's website for prices starting at R$7,999.00.

Battle

To find out which of the two models is better, Tech YouTuber Mrkeybrd tested the folding mechanism of both devices manually on his YouTube channel. The experiment aimed to see which of the two devices broke first in live text, to see which one is more durable.

The Galaxy Flip 5 is rated to withstand 200,000 folds, but Motorola didn't share a number of folds the Razr Plus is capable of withstanding.

In the ongoing test, the phones remained intact through more than 30,000 folds each. The outlet previously tested the Z Flip 3 and it withstood more than 428,000 manual folds.
