I can't leave my phone charging all night

This is a myth that has been around for a long time, almost everyone has heard it. In fact, most modern smartphones are equipped with a battery protection system that prevents overcharging when the device is 100% charged. Therefore, leaving your phone charged overnight is not will damage the battery. In other words, this is a myth. However, it is important to use a genuine or high-quality charger to ensure the safety and efficiency of the charging process.

It's okay to charge with an unofficial charger

Using unofficial chargers can be dangerous and, in some cases, even harmful to your phone’s battery. Unauthorized or unofficial chargers can damage the battery, or even the phone itself, due to insufficient voltage or lack of necessary protection mechanisms. Therefore, the truth is that you should always choose official chargers or those from trusted brands.

To charge your phone, you need to drain the battery.

This is another myth that is not true. Modern batteries use lithium-ion technology, which does not have the “memory effect” of traditional batteries. This means that you do not have to wait for your phone’s battery to completely drain before charging it. To really extend the life of your battery, it is recommended to charge it between 20% and 80%.

My phone needs to be fully charged before using it for the first time

These beliefs are common, but in most cases unnecessary. Modern smartphones are designed to be used immediately, even if they are not fully charged. However, we recommend that you perform an initial charge before first use to ensure that the battery is ready to use, just in case.

Charging your phone with a computer can damage the battery

Charging your phone from a computer via a USB connection won't damage the battery, as long as you use a high-quality cable and a USB port that can provide enough power. However, charging from a computer can be slower than charging from a USB wall port due to the power transfer capabilities. Even so, this claim is still a myth.

Now that these myths have been debunked, you can use batteries more consciously and efficiently. Furthermore, to ensure the best battery life and get the most out of your mobile device, always follow the steps recommended by your phone manufacturer.
