Car company to launch cell phone? Here's what we know about it.
Polestar, best known in the automotive industry for supplying Volvo vehicles and, more recently, for producing electric vehicles, will soon launch two new products: an SUV and a smartphone. The idea is that it will be a smartphone that combines the functions of apps and the vehicle. The next new product in the automotive market is the Polestar 4 SUV.

Integrated cell phone
The phone, created by the automaker's CEO Thomas Ingelath, is expected to hit the market after the SUV's launch. The new device aims to help drivers better connect smartphone apps with in-car technology. Thomas also told CNBC that the smartphone shouldn't be seen as an insult to Apple's phones.
Polestar x Apple
As Thomas points out, the idea behind this phone is not to compete with the Apple smartphones. What's interesting about this story is that the man who created the iPhone once said he would launch his car with a different technology. In fact, Apple vehicles have already been seen driving on the road to test their semi-autonomous driving systems, but the launch has not yet been confirmed.
Apple Cars
You electric cars The devices that Apple plans to launch in the coming years will feature autonomous systems with sensors similar to those found in the iPhone. The parts will be supplied by Wenma, a Chinese company that supplies parts for cell phones. A sensor called LiDAR is responsible for generating 3D maps for use in augmented reality in high-end iPhone and iPad models, such as the iPhone 14 Pro.
In the car, it will be able to evaluate the road ahead and recognize objects and people around the car. With the patent recognized in 2022, the company plans to intensively test the Apple car, which could hit the market for less than US$100,000, which currently equates to US$$ 519,650 directly, according to the Apple Insider website.
The main rumors suggest that the car could be launched in 2026. Apple is rumored to be testing its autonomous system on public roads with more than 200 drivers and 67 vehicles, according to the California DMV. For the launch, the company will consider both functional and logistical aspects, in addition to the final price of the vehicle.
Initially, it will be a self-driving 100% car. However, this project may have a simpler steering system and cost less than expected. Keep in mind that most expectations regarding Apple Cars are still speculation. The company has not yet confirmed this information, nor a possible launch date.
For now, tech-savvy car and smartphone-loving audiences will have to wait and see what happens with the new Polestar 4 SUV and its next-generation companion.
