Both cameras have plenty of dynamic range to deliver strong colors in HDR. The S21 FE’s photos are much more complex than the A54’s. Night photography has been improved for 2023. Night mode brings more realistic colors, more sharpness, and more balanced lighting to the A54. Previously, the goal was to make everything look bright no matter what, but now the goal is to make spots look bright and places that should be dark, dark.

Hardware and performance

In terms of hardware, these are two smartphones with different proposals and some similarities. The similarities begin with the platforms, both equipped with Exynos processors, with the S21 FE having an Exynos 2100 and the A54 having an Exynos 1380.

There is a performance difference between the two, with the Samsung S21 FE delivering a maximum frequency of 2,900MHz, while the A54's 1,380MHz delivers a maximum frequency. Benchmark results show that the Exynos 2100's performance improved by around 21%. The A54 has 8GB of RAM compared to the S21 FE's 6GB, and both can be purchased in 128GB or 256GB flavors of internal storage.

Battery

The battery is an important point to be analyzed. The A54 has a large capacity of 5000mAh and comes with a 15W charger. The S21 FE has a 4500mAh battery, but does not come with a charger. In the tests, a charger with a capacity of 25W was used. The battery test on the Oficina da Net website found that the Galaxy A54 lasted longer when plugged in and performing the same tasks.

Design and construction

The two devices have similarities in terms of design and construction, and both have the look of high-end products. After all, the A54 is entirely based on the S23 series, and the S21 FE is considered Samsung's top model. The A54's material is basically side glass and a plastic frame, while the S21 FE has an aluminum frame, rear plastic and front glass.

Both have Gorilla Glass protection, with version 5 on the A54 and Victus on the S21 FE. When it comes to protection against water and dust, the S21 FE with IP68 also performs better than the A54, with IP67. This means that the A54 can survive humidity, but the S21 FE also cannot be submerged in water for long, only in shallow water for up to 30 minutes.

Prices

Smartphones were released at different times, with the S21 FE being launched in January 2022 and originally costing R$4,499. Looking at the price, the current value is R$2,199, less than half of its original value. The Galaxy A54 was initially launched in March 2023 at a price of R$2,899, but it is currently costing R$1,839, which is about R$37% cheaper than the official price.

Which Samsung is more worth it?

The S21 FE is considered the top-of-the-line model, offering features like wireless charging, a telephoto lens with optical zoom, significantly smaller bezels, and better performance. The Galaxy A54, on the other hand, offers more battery life and has a new Bluetooth version (v5). There should be one more update than the same number of updates as the top model. The S21 FE won in more categories, while the A54 only won in battery and price. Therefore, considering the current price difference of around R$360, the Galaxy S21 FE is worth buying.
