See which phone wins the battery battle. Here we compare the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has once again proven its superior battery life over its competitor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Despite Samsung's model having the largest battery among Korean devices, Apple's smartphone managed to maintain its leading position.

In tests conducted by YouTube channel PhoneBuff, the companies' two most expensive devices were put through a series of rigorous tests to determine their performance. There are a total of 5 tests. Check out the results below.

Test results

In the first test, after an hour of calls, the iPhone 15 Pro Max maintained 100% of battery, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra dropped to 97%. At this stage, the iPhone is ahead, but further testing will help to balance the competition. When browsing the web, both smartphones were overwhelmed, showing similar performance, as both smartphones reached 79% of battery capacity.

In the Instagram test and 16 hours of standby time, the Galaxy S23 Ultra made up for its lack of performance with a combination of a larger battery, efficient chipset, and software improvements. The Galaxy S23 Ultra briefly took the lead in a few gaming sessions, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max managed to maintain its lead in the Spotify playlist test. Finally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max won again in the Snapchat test, showing its durability and finally equaling the results.

Finally, when the Galaxy S23 Ultra finally turned off, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still had 6% of charge left. Although the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a larger battery, various tests show that the Apple device, with its integrated hardware and software, continues to perform excellently in terms of battery life.

Durability test

The iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra are the stars of YouTube user PhoneBuff's durability test. The results are surprising compared to other high-level tests. This is because the S23 Ultra showed better resistance and reached the final test with more safety than the Apple phone. Despite the Korean model's gain, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still works even with a heavily damaged case. Both devices were tested at the same height, number of drops, and surface conditions.

There are a total of 4 drops from different angles. One on the back, one at an angle to the ground, one with the screen down, and one on steel. The results are even more surprising. This is because Apple's new model has a more durable titanium coating than the stainless steel material used in the previous generation. Instead, Samsung's new top-of-the-line uses an aluminum body that, according to the manufacturer, is more resistant to drops and scratches.

Despite the slight difference in scores (iPhone 15 Pro Max scored 37, Galaxy S23 Ultra scored 39), there was a significant difference in the appearance of the phones after the test. However, this is not the first time that the S23 Ultra has beaten the 15 Pro Max. As previously reported, the Galaxy S23 Ultra won a performance test against an Apple model that overheated by almost 50 degrees. In addition, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the processor that powers Samsung's top-of-the-line phones, outperforms the A17 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max in CPU tests. Despite the damage, both phones performed perfectly after all the tests. Check out the full test by YouTuber PhoneBuff at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isYOrOZ-PkI&ab_channel=PhoneBuff
