See what tests say about the best way to charge the new iPhone 15 Pro Max. Get the best out of your phone!
The best charger for iPhone 15 Pro Max is the 20W charger. At least that's what was shown in the tests carried out by user Brandon Butch, who tested the model with the adapter mentioned above and the rating taking into account the 30W version.
At first glance, you might think that the higher-end variant supports up to 27W, making it the most compatible with Apple's cutting-edge charging. However, the video posted by Butch shows that adapters with higher wattages do not provide faster speeds compared to adapters with lower wattages.

Load tests
Comparing the two adapters at battery charge levels during production did not show any difference of more than 4% in battery levels. In fact, the 20W charger's component charge increases to 85% after 1 hour and 30 minutes, while the 30W charger shows 84% in the same period. Chargers that have even higher capacity usually charge slightly faster, but the difference does not justify the choice, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max charges 100% in 2 hours and 11 minutes.
On the other hand, the 20W model completes charging in 2 hours and 21 minutes. With just a 10-minute difference, the tests showed that a 20W charger may indeed be the better choice. Another important detail concerns temperature. This is because the 30W model makes the phone a little warmer at 45.6° compared to 41.7° for the 20W adapter.
iPhone 15 Overheating Problems
You heating problems on the Pro model have already been proven in tests, with some users even reporting that they suffered burns when using the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Fortunately, Apple released iOS 17.0.3 with bug fixes in the last few days.
This update is mentioned on Apple's website with the following description: "This update includes important bug fixes and security updates, and addresses an issue that causes your iPhone to run hotter than expected."
It is worth noting that the new version of the system is specifically designed to fix problems on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, but it can be used on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 17.
The release notes for iOS 17.0.3 and iPadOS 17.0.3 mention that version 21A360 also includes two fixes for system security flaws. The first is in the kernel and the second is in WebRTC, one of which may already have been actively exploited by hackers. According to Apple, the overheating issue is caused by processes running after the installation of iOS 17, such as reindexing Spotlight and Photos, unspecified bugs in iOS, and issues with third-party apps like Uber and Instagram releasing new versions.
So, to avoid any issues, head over to the App Store today and update your device. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update and download the iOS 17 update. If your device is heating up, make sure your iPhone has Instagram version 303.3 or higher, and Uber version 3.582.10000.
