Discover Instagram's new features. The network promises to innovate with the “Best Friends” tool.
Instagram hasn't given up on its plan to create different 'best friends'. Leaker Alessandro Paluzzi announced this past Friday that he discovered another new feature in the shared list creation feature.
Paluzzi released a screenshot explaining the feature, which could be a sign that the launch is getting closer. Keep reading and understand what may change in the app.

Most Exclusive Best Friends
To contextualize, the Instagram app has been working to create a more “exclusive” tool than Best Friends since 2021. You know when you want to share something, but think: “Oh, I want to share this only with my best friends”? The platforms want to solve this problem. The list will be useful for the group and will arrive soon.
Shared lists
Shared lists allow users to post content based on their different social circles, dividing followers into groups. For example, you might want to share memes only with friends who like soccer and follow them. To do this, you can create a list of these people and use it to post photos and videos.
This feature can be divided into two types: private lists (similar to best friends lists) and public lists. In the first case, only you can share content and view members. In the second, you can invite people and everyone can share their stories. Of course, content creators will benefit from the list, as they will be able to “sell” access.
After two years of development, this feature is expected to be released soon. The screenshot Paluzzi shared this week shows a “pop-up” description of the listing. This more didactic introduction could be a sign that Instagram has perfected its tool.
Closest friends
As Paluzzi revealed, Instagram has been considering creating a ‘close friends’ list since early development in 2021. Access to the list-creating feature will replace the ‘Close Friends’ button, as demonstrated by a leaker who reverse-engineered the app to reveal hidden features. It’s unclear whether this list will “kill” your old best friends or if the social network will try to keep the two together.
Instagram wants 10-minute Reels
Probably to compete with the TikTok app, Instagram may add support for 10-minute video reels. At least that's what Alessandro Palucci, who is famous for leaking features on Meta's social media before launch, said.
The screenshot of the 2-page Reels he unofficially posted contains a 3-minute screen recording (current standard) and a 10-minute screen recording. As of now, Meta has not officially confirmed whether or not it plans to extend the video length. If approved, the 10-minute extension would be a direct response to TikTok, which already offers the ability to record longer videos (up to 10 minutes for free users and up to 20 minutes for paid accounts).
This shows that Meta doesn’t want to be left behind. The company is working tirelessly to catch up with other social networks like Twitter and TikTok.
