Instagram, always looking for innovations to engage its users, is launching a new feature that promises to bring a touch of nostalgia to profiles. Inspired by the old MSN Messenger, the platform now allows users to add music to their profile.

This new feature, which has already been speculated by social media enthusiasts and experts, offers a new form of expression, expanding the functionalities that already exist in Stories and Notes.

According to information released by Meta, Instagram's parent company, the feature began rolling out today to users around the world.

Instagram's new feature harks back to the golden age of MSN and excites users who want to improve their profile in a very different way – appsreais.com.

How it works and how to activate the new feature on Instagram

The new feature will allow anyone with an account on the platform to add a song to their profile, sharing with their followers and friends what they are currently listening to.

To use this new feature, simply access your profile, click on the “Edit Profile” option and select the new field dedicated to music. There, the user can search for the desired track and add it to the profile.

Instagram's new feature goes beyond simply adding a song to your profile. Users will have the option to choose a specific 30 seconds of the track that will play whenever someone visits their profile and clicks the play button.

However, it’s worth noting that the music won’t play automatically; visitors will need to activate it manually. This personalization option allows users to choose the most impactful or representative part of the song, bringing even more personality to the profile.

Exclusive Partnerships and Collaborations

The introduction of this new feature comes alongside a strategic partnership with singer Sabrina Carpenter, who is releasing an exclusive teaser of her new song, “Taste,” directly on her Instagram profile.

This collaboration underscores Instagram’s trend of working with artists and influencers to promote new features and engage viewers. What’s more, this partnership isn’t limited to just the profile; the new feature is also integrated into Instagram Notes.

Notes can now be customized with a light blue theme that includes a coffee cup emoji or the word “Sabrina.” There’s also an exclusive chat theme inspired by the singer that will be available for users to set in their conversations.

These actions are part of the promotion strategy for the album “Short n' Sweet”, which will be released soon by Sabrina Carpenter.

Limitations and Considerations before activating the new feature on Instagram

While the new feature offers a unique way to personalize profiles and interact with followers, it's important to note some limitations. For example, you can't upload your own audio.

Users will only be able to choose music that is already licensed to Instagram. This restriction may limit the creativity of some users, but it also ensures that music usage is copyright-compliant, avoiding legal issues for both users and the platform.

Adding music to your profile is just one of several updates Instagram has implemented to make the user experience richer and more interactive.

Recently, the platform also increased the limit of photos and videos that can be posted in a single carousel, now allowing up to 20 media in a single post.

This update aims to meet user demand for more flexibility in content creation, especially for those who use Instagram as a work tool, such as influencers and brands.
