Through the Single Registry (CadÚnico), the Federal Government provides several benefits to help achieve social rights and, initially, reduce inequalities in the country. Above all, despite renowned programs such as Bolsa Família, many are unaware of other valuable options, such as the layette allowance and the digital satellite TV kit.

Internet Brazil: More Access to Technology

One of these alternatives that is less publicized by the traditional media is the Internet Brasil program, created with the purpose of expanding access to the internet and technology, especially for students and teachers. The initiative offers free SIM cards and cell phones, which are crucial for digital inclusion, especially at a time when the internet has become essential for continuing studies during the pandemic.

Despite this, although the program went through a period of stagnation in 2022, awaiting the sanction of then-president Jair Bolsonaro, in 2023 it is already fully operational. The first chips with credit and internet access were distributed to 700 thousand students in six cities in the country: Campina Grande (PB), Caruaru (PE), Petrolina (PE), Mossoró (RN), Caicó (RN) and Juazeiro (BA).

How to Participate in the Single Registry and the Internet Brazil Program

First, the Internet Brasil program is expected to expand in the coming months and years, extending the distribution of free cell phones to students and teachers in other regions of the country. To request the chip and the cell phone, it is essential to be registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government.

Registration takes place directly at a Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in your city. Don't forget to bring your personal documents and talk to the unit's staff. You can pre-register through the system's app. You can also schedule your in-person appointment at CRAS, as long as the service is available in your region.

Access to the internet and technology is a fundamental right for everyone, especially for students and teachers who cannot afford to purchase these devices. The Internet Brasil program is a relevant initiative of the federal government, deserving recognition and publicity so that more people can enjoy its benefits.
