Shein scam

Another very popular app among Brazilians is Shein. The Chinese online store has won the hearts of the country with quality products at below-average prices. In addition to the various coupons offered and the payment facilities provided by the company.

However, customers should be careful with large-value coupons, always paying attention to where they come from, as they could be scams. Recently, messages have been circulating on WhatsApp that offers a valuable gift card worth R$500 on Shein. However, the message is part of a fraud scheme.

The ad posted on the app asks the customer to answer a quick questionnaire, with the promise of providing this free gift card, with a bonus of R$ 500. However, there are some points that show the user that this is a scam.

First of all, the message contains grammatical errors. Furthermore, just pay attention to the testimonials and photos used by the “beneficiaries” of the coupon. If you take a closer look, you will realize that they are fake, taken from the internet. The Shein brand does indeed offer several real and very advantageous coupons, but they are only advertised on its official channels, as the company values security.

Avoiding fraud

It is extremely important to know how to identify and avoid scams. To do this, it is essential that users are alert and have the knowledge to avoid falling into virtual traps.

Below are some tips to help you identify fraud:

  • Always be wary of calls or messages that promise exorbitant prizes or benefits. Especially if they ask for a payment or deposit. Real companies generally do not ask for money in advance to give prizes.
  • When receiving clickable links, pay close attention to the website domain and the structure of the page you are redirecting to. It is common for fake pages to be created to deceive consumers. Official pages have a padlock in the upper left corner, in the navigation section.
  • When you receive promotional messages or emails, be careful to check if the source is trustworthy. Companies usually have their own official communication channels, and only post about these gifts there. If you are in doubt, search for the company name and check if it is the same website or social network.
  • When using WhatsApp, you need to be extra careful. It is a medium with many scams and clones. Think carefully and check before clicking on links in strange conversations or providing any information.
  • When an offer is too good to be true, it is always wise to be suspicious. A company would not send you benefits that would be detrimental to itself.
  • Finally, always try to stay up to date with the latest news about scam strategies. Share them with friends and family so that no one falls for these criminal schemes.
