Discover what's new in Samsung's launch. Meet the Galaxy M34 5G.
The Galaxy M34 is a mid-range smartphone from Samsung that stands out for its huge battery. As a replacement for the Galaxy A34, this device should offer a longer battery life, but apparently that is not the case. Even so, the device is a great option for those who want a mid-range smartphone with good value for money.

Design and screen
The Galaxy M34 is very similar to the phones from Galaxy A series from 2023, with the camera lens embedded directly into the plastic back cover. The sides are made of plastic, and the power button also has an integrated fingerprint reader. This model is not certified waterproof or dustproof.
The 6.5-inch screen has a Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, meaning it has performance equivalent to other phones in the same price range, even in bright environments. It has sharp images and good brightness even in dark environments. In addition, it delivers fluid animation and games.
Performance
Samsung's proprietary Exynos 1280 serves as the platform, and this is the same chip that's also found in the Galaxy A53. The handset's AnTuTu score was slightly lower than the Galaxy A34's, so you can expect a similar performance experience, especially when performing more mundane tasks.
Camera game
Photos taken with the Galaxy M34 are of high quality even in low light. Sure, it's not a phone that can compete with high-end phones, but it's not far from the Galaxy A34 either. The main camera can record 4K video, while the other cameras can only record in Full HD.
The 50MP main lens with optical image stabilization captures every detail, creating incredible results day or night. In addition, its front camera is 13MP, which is enough to take good photos.
Battery
The biggest highlight of this device is the 6,000 mAh battery, but its longevity is not impressive. In the tests carried out, it fell short of what was desired. The Galaxy M34 lasted one point less than the Galaxy A34, which has a battery with a smaller capacity. In other words, even though the M-line model has a large “tank”, there is a lot of waste.
This shows that the Exynos 1280 is less energy efficient than the Dimensity 1080. Also, due to its large capacity, it takes a while to charge. That's okay, as the battery charges the 100% in just under two hours. However, it would be nice if the charging time were shorter to improve usage time.
Features and Connectivity
Samsung is already using Android 13 with One UI 5.1 on its 2023 phones. The Galaxy M34 offers next-gen features such as a sidebar with menu shortcuts on the side of the screen. The smartphone has 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, and NFC. Therefore, it can be connected to a 5 GHz network and used for contactless payments. It also has a headphone jack and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
But, after all, is the Galaxy M34 worth it?
While the Galaxy M34 costs more than the Galaxy A34, which is currently sold online for R$1,400, is not worth it. The A-Line models offer similar usage time, better cameras and performance, despite having a smaller battery capacity. The Galaxy M34 was launched in the first week of October with a recommended price of R$2,000. At the moment, the retail price is approximately R$1,600.
