Check out the A14's specifications and price range. See if the phone is worth it for your pocket.

If you're looking to buy a basic smartphone, Samsung might have the perfect device for you. The Galaxy A14 is available in two versions. One of them already has the famous 5G, the other still has the 4G network.

After looking at the models with 5G connectivity, it’s now time to take a look at what the cheaper model of the two has to offer. Is it just the connections that change? See below.

4G version

In terms of design, the two versions are very similar and their dimensions are also practically the same. The vertical lines of the pattern on the back of the A14 4G have become clearer. It is also made entirely of matte plastic, of good quality and with good grip.

The power button has an integrated biometric reader that works well. The A14 has a 6.6-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution and a PLS LCD panel. The screen is good, with good brightness levels, but it lacks fluidity, as the refresh rate is only 60 Hz.

Although the sound is only mono, it has good power and sound quality above average for the entry-level segment. Like the 5G version, the 4G model also has two processor options. There's the Exynos 850, but there's also the Helio G80. There's 4GB of RAM for multitasking, and even with RAM Plus enabled to take up to 4GB of storage, it's not uncommon for the A14 to have trouble opening multiple apps at once.

Battery and cameras

The 5000mAh battery is quite productive, as it surpasses the 5G version of the same capacity. The included 15W charger takes 2 hours to fully charge the battery, which is perfect for an entry-level device. The camera setup consists of just a 50MP camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The latter is completely useless and doesn't take good photos. The others, on the other hand, take good photos in good lighting. The camcorder records in Full HD quality, has no stabilization, and captures sound in stereo mode with clear focus and good quality. The Samsung Galaxy A14 is available for R$ 799 at Casas Bahia and has an excellent quality-price ratio.

Rivals in the same range

One of the device's competitors is the Moto G23. It features a 90 Hz screen and stereo sound with Dolby Atmos. The Motorola performs better than the Galaxy when used with multiple apps, but ends up losing battery and charging time. In terms of cameras, there are similar sets that offer good photo quality, but the A14 stands out when it comes to video.

Furthermore, there is the Redmi 12, which has a more sophisticated design with a glass back. It also has a 90 Hz screen for great fluidity, but it lacks stereo sound, not to mention that both the power and sound quality are inferior to Samsung's competitors. Xiaomi wins in performance and loses in battery and camera.

Pros and cons of Galaxy

Advantages: louder than average sound, long battery life and good camera

Weaknesses: Only 60Hz screen, slow multitasking performance, system lacks features.
